About this property
London gives you thousands of places to live, but very few that let you get across the city without turning every lecture into a long commute.
Students choosing Drapery Place London usually aren't just picking a room. They're choosing to live in a part of the city where the university campuses, supermarkets, cafés and late-night food spots are already part of the neighbourhood. After a few weeks, that convenience becomes something you stop thinking about because it simply works.
Located on Leman Street in Aldgate, it offers both en-suite rooms and private studios. Whether you're studying for long hours, balancing a part-time job, or making the most of weekends in London, the location makes it easier to fit everything into the same day without spending hours travelling between places.
Address: 65 Leman Street, London E1 8EU, United Kingdom
Once the term begins, you start noticing the places you use again and again rather than the landmarks shown on city guides.
Aldgate East Underground Station is only a short walk from the building, making it easy to reach different parts of London for lectures, placements or weekends out. Several bus routes also stop nearby, which helps if you're travelling later in the evening or carrying shopping back.
Daily errands stay simple here. Tesco Express, Sainsbury's Local and Whole Foods Market are all close enough for regular grocery runs, while cafés, bakeries and independent restaurants fill the surrounding streets.
If you prefer studying somewhere other than your room, Artizan Street Library and Whitechapel Library are both nearby. Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market and Tower Bridge are also within walking distance, so there's plenty to do once university work is out of the way.
Many students searching for Drapery Place student halls want a location where they can spend less time travelling and more time making use of what London offers. This part of the city makes that possible.
One of the biggest expenses of studying in London isn't rent—it's time.
An extra 30 or 40 minutes on public transport every day soon adds up, especially when you're juggling lectures, coursework, a part-time job and everything else that comes with university life. That's one reason Drapery Place London continues to attract students studying across different parts of the city.
Instead of relying on long commutes, residents have Aldgate East Underground Station just a few minutes away, with supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and everyday essentials already within walking distance.
Here's what stands out about Drapery Place student accommodation.
Living in Zone 1 means you don't have to treat central London as somewhere you only visit at weekends.
Universities, museums, markets, libraries, restaurants and transport links are all part of your local area, making it easier to fit more into the day without constantly checking train times.
Not everyone wants the same type of accommodation.
En-suite Rooms: Give you a private bathroom while sharing a kitchen with other residents. Studios work well if you'd rather have your own kitchen, study area and living space under one roof.
Bills Included
Your weekly rent includes:
Electricity
Gas
Heating
Water
High-speed Wi-Fi
With utilities already covered, there's no need to arrange separate suppliers after moving in.

One advantage of staying in Drapery Place London is that you aren't tied to a single university campus.
Aldgate East Underground Station is only a short walk away, so travelling across London is usually straightforward, whether your lectures are every day or only a few times each week.
| University | Access from Drapery Place |
| London Metropolitan University | Around 7–10 minutes on foot |
| Queen Mary University of London | Direct Underground and bus connections |
| King's College London | Easy Tube journey |
| City, University of London | Convenient by Underground or bus |
| University College London (UCL) | Well connected via the Underground |
For students studying in different parts of London, being close to multiple Tube lines usually matters more than living next to a single campus. It gives you far more flexibility throughout the academic year.
Different accommodation suits different lifestyles, and Drapery Place student accommodation tends to appeal to students who already know how they want to live.
Students Studying Across Central London: If your university is spread across different buildings or you expect to travel around the city for lectures, placements or internships, a Zone 1 address makes daily travel much easier.
Students Who Prefer Private Space: The mix of en-suite rooms and studios works well if you want your own bathroom or would rather avoid sharing every part of your accommodation.
Students New to London: Sorting out utility providers, broadband contracts and building maintenance can feel overwhelming when you've just arrived in a new city. Here, those essentials are already included, making the move much simpler.
Students Who Spend Time Outside the Classroom: The gym, dance studio, music rooms and study spaces provide somewhere to go without leaving the building. Whether you're preparing for an assignment or taking a break after lectures, the facilities support different routines instead of focusing on just one type of student.

I’ve stayed at Unite Students for 6 months before, and I actually decided to come back again for a second time — which probably says everything about my experience. Honestly, it’s been a really comfortable place to live. The staff are genuinely helpful and approachable, not just doing their job but actually trying to sort things out for you. Anytime I had a small issue or needed help with something, it was dealt with quickly and without any stress. The building feels safe and well looked after, and that’s something I really value. It’s also easy to meet people here, but at the same time you still have your own space when you need to focus or just relax. The location makes student life simple — close to uni and everything you need day to day. Coming back for a second stay felt like the right decision. It’s familiar, reliable, and just makes life easier as a student. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a good student accommodation experience.

One of the best student accommodations! This is my third time moving back here, and every experience has been wonderful. The location is excellent, with easy access to public transport. Supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, bars, and everything you could need are just few steps away. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, but I would especially like to thank Michelle. She is such a lovely person always smiling, greeting everyone warmly, and going out of her way to help. Her kindness and positive attitude truly make a difference, and she always manages to put a smile on your face. Thank you, Michelle, and thank you to the entire team for making this such a great place to live.
Avoid Londonist
I had an extremely stressful and unacceptable experience with Londonist, and I would strongly warn other students and tenants to be very careful before booking with them. On the first day I moved in, the bathroom hygiene condition was shocking and completely unacceptable. I was told that the property had already been cleaned twice, but the actual condition was still very poor. For accommodation aimed at students and international tenants, this level of hygiene was simply not acceptable. I contacted Londonist immediately and sent several emails within the first week asking to discuss ending the agreement and moving out because I did not feel comfortable or safe staying there. However, I received no proper response. I also tried calling their finance team and relevant staff multiple times, but the communication was extremely poor. Instead of helping me resolve the issue, they appeared to ignore and avoid the problem. Because there was no clear response or solution from Londonist, I had to move out and find temporary accommodation elsewhere at my own cost. This caused me a lot of stress, inconvenience, and additional financial pressure. What made the experience even worse was what happened afterwards. Several months later, instead of properly addressing my complaint or the poor condition of the property, I received further pressure from their finance team. I also received a phone call that I found intimidating and threatening, saying they would take legal action against me. After months of poor communication and no proper resolution, this felt extremely unfair and distressing. In my opinion, Londonist’s handling of this situation was unacceptable from beginning to end: poor hygiene, poor complaint handling, lack of communication, avoidance of responsibility, and then aggressive payment pressure afterwards. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Londonist, especially to international students who may not be familiar with the UK rental system. Please be very careful before signing anything or making any payment to them. For clarity, the photos attached to this review were taken at Drapery Place, which was one of the accommodation options rented through Londonist. They show the actual room condition I found on the first day I moved in, despite being told that cleaning had already been carried out.

Booked a 2-week stay at this place through Londonist and paid an additional £99 for a cleaning service. This is what I arrived to — an absolute nightmare. There were stains all over the walls, visible rust and heavy watermarks around the shower area, and the worst part was the sink, which had hair and residue in it. This is not a matter of “different standards” — it was objectively unhygienic. Very disappointing experience overall, both in terms of the condition of the room and how the situation was handled afterward. I arrived in the evening, had a mental breakdown seeing this, and left the following morning after I was able to find another place. Worst experience I’ve ever had.

This student apartment is truly top-tier. The living space is modern, bright, and thoughtfully designed, making it easy to balance both study and relaxation. With its prime location near campus and fantastic amenities, it offers the perfect blend of convenience and comfort. I couldn't ask for a better place to call home during my studies.
