the staff are very lovely especially the maintenance/cleaning glaswegian man - he always makes an effort to say hello and ask how I am. However despite this I was not at all impressed with the standard here for the amount we pay. The first day I moved in I had a leak in my bathroom floor despite never having been in my room before. I went to reception repeatedly and it got fixed more than a week later so I had to have towels all over my bathroom floor which was soaking wet. I also had to deal with my heater not working when i’ve come back from winter break causing my asthma to flare up. I asked for maintenance at the front desk and no one came for 3 hours and only ended up coming once I’d gone back down to ask again. Our kitchen window blew open in a storm and broke the safety latch and isn’t able to fully shut so there’s a constant draft - we have been to reception repeatedly (3 or more times) and nothing has been done. The 2 lifts were working for what can only have been a month and so only one lift between 13 floors takes way long and living on the 8th floor is hard to trek up especially with bags of shopping. Our sink was leaking before and went to maintenance to get it fixed. A few months later the sink pipe burst and flooded my cupboards with dirty water which resulted in me having to throw some food out as it had been contaminated. The flat is also advertised as being less that £800 a month which is what drew me in however in the fine print in the tenancy agreement it said that was the amount it equated to NOT meaning we could be charged different. Of course I understand that I misinterpreted this information however I feel as though it was sneaky they way it was presented and how we ‘get 2 months free rent’ is actually nonsense as we have to pay additional every month for those 2 ‘free months’ which my SAAS didn’t cover and therefore I have found myself struggling with rent payments. I can admit I was happy about the £800 off one months rent due to the works happening outside however I don’t feel this compensated all the rest as no warning was given to this when booking the flat. Overall I don’t think this flat is at all worth what I pay for it although it may be older than the the new flats that have been renovated I am still very unhappy with the state of the flat for the price we pay and will definitely NOT be recommending to anyone!

Very bad expense wise and terrible lift. It never worked. Paid almost about 9000 pounds for 52weeks the lift worked hardly a month and the other lift was shut down. My friends were stuck in the lift for about an hour and this happened with many more people. I do not recommend at all.

It is a nice place to live but really hard to communicate with BV staff in reception. During the lockdown 2021, they were super nice, respectful, and responsive, but in 2022, I was not satisfied with the service they offered. These are a few of my experiences of living there for about 6 months which made me modify this review after some time (form 5-star to 3-star) : During the first week, their maintenance entered my room with a key when I was inside, and I was told ''oh! Sorry! I didn't know it's occupied''...It is funny cause the same guy came to check the radiator in my room a few days before that.... They had a problem with a fake fire alarm which was not stopping (malfunctioning for more than 30min)and forced everyone to go inside and stay in their room cause there was no fire to be scared of.....I experienced a bad headache for two days and missed one job interview due to that... Once, I asked the receptionist in advance to keep my letters coming from the bank due to security in the office, but unfortunately, I found them in the kitchen after a few days (even though the receptionist showed me the note that he wrote to keep it). More importantly, I moved out on 27th August, and still, they have not sent me the deposit back (31th October). I tried to contact Studentroost (both complaint form, and social media portals), but I did not get any reply with the updates showing that the refund has been placed. being fully booked should not affect your services cause the comments and reviews will come out and make your business down!

Best accommodation but several facilities are not upto the high rent. In other accommodation with low rent, have theater room, study room, gym, etc.. but here only high rent is there. Vending machine is there which is helpful a bit. Mainly the lift is not working. Other than that the wall between the room are soo thing that the other person can hear it. But the room is spacious and have a large kitchen for en-suited. Overall it's okay 👍. Cycle and car parking is good. Every staff here is wonderfully helpful, friendly, and supportive. Recently, the shower was changed but the previous one was good compared to this 😵💫. I don't know why they suddenly changed. I hope buy next year the lift will be fixed.

Hopefully someone finds this helpful. This is the most thorough assessment of Buchanan View I can offer within the word count, and I hope sharing my experience will give you a clear idea of what it’s like to live here. Let’s start with the positives: In terms of facilities and amenities, Buchanan View is genuinely impressive. The rooms feel modern and well-constructed (though not without their flaws, which I’ll get to). The desk is spacious, the flat has plenty of room overall, and the bathroom is solid. The kitchen continues this trend with large cupboards, a decent cooker, and enough bins for everyone. The onsite staff are polite and helpful, the communal areas are well-equipped, and the accommodation guidelines are clear and easy to follow. Overall, it checks all the boxes you'd expect from quality student housing. So why the 1-star rating? Because despite the strengths, there are four major issues that really overshadow everything else. 1. Security If you’re booking a room in a cluster flat, be aware: the cluster doors often don’t close properly. This means, in theory—and sometimes in practice—anyone could just walk right in. And I do mean anyone. 2. Communication At Buchanan, the left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right is doing, and residents end up getting caught in the middle. What I mean by this is communication is consistently lacking. When you're asked to do something, they frequently leave out crucial details—like dates and times. For instance, if they need to install a shower head or add decor, they'll say it’ll happen "during the week." If they don’t manage to do it when they said they would, they’ll simply show up unannounced and let themselves in—whether you're at your desk or just stepping out of the shower. It gets worse. During my stay, I was assigned a new room but wasn’t told when to move, nor was my new room ready. One morning—while I was literally in the shower—staff came knocking and asked why I was still in my old room. The contract had expired, but the new room wasn’t ready for another week. Cleaning staff hadn’t been informed either, and I was nearly booted mid-shower. 3. Cleanliness Back to those amenities I praised earlier—how good they are really depends on the flat you end up in. When I moved to my new room as part of the extension, the condition was shocking: mould in the fridge, uncleaned surfaces, and just general neglect. In my previous flat, the kitchen was a disaster for months due to messy flatmates, and even after I contacted both the accommodation and my flatmates directly, nothing was done. 4. Noise This is a BIG one if you value sleep. The walls are paper-thin. You’ll hear everything—from guitars to gaming rage. If your neighbour's are loud (and chances are, they will be), you’ll need earplugs. Otherwise, don’t count on a good night's sleep. All in all, while Buchanan View looks great on paper, the reality was a stressful, frustrating experience for me. Glasgow has plenty of student accommodation options—this just isn't one I can recommend.
