Collegiate Dashwood Studios, london

We stayed at this place for 3 nights, and overall we had a very good experience. The room was clean, well lit, and very quiet despite the road outside. There was a small issue with the toilet leaking a little, but aside from that, everything was excellent. A special mention and heartfelt thank you go to the polite, kind, and helpful staff, and especially to the lady who I believe was the manager. She spent two hours of her time helping us resolve a problem caused by Booking. She was under no obligation to do that, but despite this, she still managed to make sure we got the room. Without her help, we would have been left without accommodation for 4 days. She truly earned every star.

So where do I start : - booking : booking on booking dot.com was the easiest thing about this whole process, then I got an email asking for proof of myself and guest being students which was fine did it and it was all good, then the day before we leave to head into London I got a phone call saying there wasn’t any documentation for him and saying I had to do it with in the next 2 hours or they would cancel our reservation… so after send them the documents again we thought that was the end of it… - arrival : now I know this is a student only place but tell me why it say no where about checking in is for only 2hour of the day 3pm to 5pm and then there no staff anywhere so we called security to check us in, in the end - THE ROOM : when I say RUN AWAY FROM THIS PLACE I MEAN IT, the bathroom disgusting, absolutely appalling used toilet paper left in the bathroom, limescale everywhere the shower unusable it smelled so BAD I could be have been sick, AND SOME HOW !!!! There was only HOT water NO cold ???????? The Studio (bedroom / kitchen) not the dirtiest kitchen surprisingly, was somewhat clean, but the BED looked as if somebody had been sleeping in it before us, all wrinkled up pillows, bed unmade and a broken chair to the desk! There is no good to this place. -Check out : this was the only good bit about this place no asking what room we where in just leave ur key at the desk and leave was what we where told but the ONE (and first staff member we saw for are 3day trip!) -AVOIDING THIS PLACE WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU DO !

This place needs a significant renovation to get rid of mold problems. Make sure to advocate for yourself if you get put in a stinky room that smells of rust/moldy pipes! In the winter I never noticed the radiator turn on and in the summer it is unbearably hot. Once it reaches above 21C the interiors I had to sleep with only a sheet, and days when it rose above 25C I had to sleep with no sheets at all it was like an oven inside. The air quality is very bad and when other people smoke or cook, the smell travels into your room. I had to buy and switch my air purifier filter twice during the 5 months I stayed. It speaks volumes that the good reviews of Dashwood are from ~10 years ago, as conditions have deteriorated since. Great location with Sainsbury’s nearby and the Elephant & Castle park is beautiful. I appreciated the staff, and the layout of the studio rooms is also quite nice. Also there are rooftop, and lounge areas and I never had problems with the laundry. The garbage room sucks though because it is not cleaned out often enough and college students suck at throwing out trash properly. Overall rate 1 star because some other people got UTIs from the mold issues and lack of ventilation.

Probably one of the worst places I’ve been to in a long time. Staff was not there when I came in and were rude. The room and many issues such as mold, limescale beds being dirty and somehow had hot water and no cold water the list can go on. The only positive thing I can say is that it was easy to check out. That is all.

The staff are definitely one of the best aspects of this building. They’re always helpful, professional, and friendly, and any requests are handled quickly and efficiently. Their support really contributes to a comfortable and welcoming living environment.
