The Cottages on Port Republic, harrisonburg-va

I had a great time living in The Cottages this past year (25-26). The office staff were always very kind and helpful, and the maintenance crews always responded quickly and effectively no matter what the issue was. The furnishings and appliances in my apartment were high quality, and the clubhouse also has a really nice gym, study lounge, and pool in the back. It's definitely on the more expensive side for housing in Harrisonburg, but I would highly recommend living here.

I have truly loved living at The Cottages! The property is always well maintained, the amenities are great, and they do such a great job creating fun events and activities for residents. It really feels like they care about building a welcoming community for everyone who lives here. From the atmosphere to the staff, my experience has been amazing. I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to Christian Benitez from maintenance. He has been absolutely incredible during my time here. He is always so quick to respond to maintenance requests, whether it’s something small or a bigger issue, and he never makes you feel like a burden for asking for help. He always goes above and beyond to make sure everything is fully taken care of and fixed correctly. On top of that, he is one of the friendliest people you’ll meet. Even when you see him out around the property working hard, he’s always kind, professional, and willing to help. Christian truly makes a difference here, and The Cottages are lucky to have him!

As a grandmother, peace of mind means everything to me, and The Cottages have truly delivered. The property is clean, welcoming, and feels very safe for my grandchild. What stands out most is the team, especially the General Manager, who is just so helpful, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile. It’s comforting knowing my grandchild is in such good hands. I would absolutely recommend The Cottages to other families!

I hope they are keeping this place cleaner then they have in the past. Hold the residents accountable for the mess put cameras up this way you have records on who throwing the trash on the ground. This is absolutely ridiculous. The assistant manager told me to leave after complaining to them about it. I cleaned it up the first time a couple of weeks ago and came back today, and this is what I come up on. The last 2 pics are from last weekend before I cleaned it up. Then the new pics are from today 9-04-2024 11am. I left the office and then went back in to get the owners information so I could send the pics to them because I'm sure they would have a cow if they knew this. So the assistant wouldn't give me any information at all. He then stormed around the counter at me and demanded me to leave. He has a god complex and has no business working in the customer service industry. I left, then he came out and told me he was fining my sons account for me speaking out. Well, the bill is close to if not more than $900.00 a month. What should I do? Keep my mouth shut, I don't think so!! Well, after my wife emailed the manager Kaitlyn and they talked, she had all the trash picked up and cleaned up around the entire complex. Signs should be put up showing what Virginia fines are for littering. Just maybe that will help in keeping the trash off the ground. I mean, these kids are in college. They should be able to read, right?

My daughter lived in the Cottages a semester. The units are beaten down and as she had to move in early, the unit was received as IS. She moved out in December, keys returned and we are now charged with a bill for cleaning and repairs. Filling the move in inspection form is not enough. You need to document with pictures every thing you report even though pictures are not demanded. And pictures must have a time stamp so you can contest what they charge. Read the contracts carefully, know your rights, as they will make you liable for things you should not be charged for.
