West Wing, cardiff

I stayed at West Wing from September 2025, and right from the start, the staff and management were attentive and supportive. Every maintenance issue was resolved quickly, and any queries I had were handled with care. They organized events to keep us engaged, making Cardiff feel like a community. Living on the sixth floor, I also enjoyed an incredible view! This was my first time away from home, and West Wing ensured I never felt far from one. They made it a second home for me. It was impressive when I moved in during the first day! It’s a brand new student accommodation and the modern appearance outside looks fantastic! Even the construction work hasn’t finished completely but it doesn’t impact the living experience and enjoyment at all. All the staff in the reception are so kind. They did me a huge favour and make my moving so much easier! Coffee and desserts are provided in the study room, which is a terrific place for quiet reading, study and work. The rooms and kitchen are all well-equipped. There’s a massive space for storing luggage and things in each room. Bathroom is spacious and bright. Everything looks shining. The good location and 24/7 security just make life cosier and more pleasant. Will definitely recommend The West Wing to my friend and all students. It meets all your expectations and will give you an unforgettable living and studying experience. Trust me, you won’t regret for that! The studio in general is very clean and tidy, the bed fits one person only. There is no oven or (Stove) in the kitchen, it’s basically a microwave, and there is a small refrigerator in the room. Chris is a great manager, he and his team provides a very good services for the residents. Everything else seems good here, there’s also a 24 hours security in the place, the gym is closed due to the current situation of COVID-19.

I came to The West Wing with a rather difficult situation which the team were extremely sympathetic and understanding about. The atmosphere at The West Wing is very laid back and friendly, it is a zero pressure environment built on honestly and the staff are willing to answer all questions and accommodate to your own personal needs. Every time I have popped into the office I have always been made to feel welcome and have enjoyed many chats with the staff. After dealing with tricky lettings agencies I can almost certainly say there is no going back, the difference in customer service goes without saying. The accommodation itself looks absolutely beautiful, and I can’t wait to call it my home for my final year of Uni. If you go into the office you can take a look inside the fantastic showrooms for both a studio room and a cluster flat, as well as see the floor plans for the entire building and pick your own room out (if you are ready to book) or would like to visualise the layout of the building. I will be living in a standard plus studio room next year, and I feel that compared to other student accommodation the pricing is very reasonable for my own needs and the types of services included at The West Wing (such as an on site gym). The accommodation is close to town and Cardiff Uni on foot whilst also being in a relatively quiet area away from the busyness of the city centre. Over all, I can’t recommend The West Wing enough - the staff are absolutely lovely and I already feel like a part of the family. I very much look forward to living there in September and can’t wait to show my family and friends around!

Fire alarm rings everyday, sometimes during sleeping hours (its basically random 24/7). It is also very loud. The administration does nothing about it. Smoking is not controlled in the yard, so if your dorm is facing the yard, you will smell smoke if you open your windows. The ventilation in both the room and bathroom is terrible. A short 5 minute shower will fill the bathroom with fog. And the dorm itself is constantly hot if the windows are not opened. Front desk is not always manned. Room is not delivered clean nor in full working order. The cork board, chair and bed had stains and unknown substances on them, the shower had molding. The bathroom lights was broken. Hot water and heater broke down in the winter. A lot of bugs in the area and they go into your room, there is NO facilities that stop this, not a single electric bug killer in the region (i.e. those blue electric boxes, but not present here). Administration here is a joke. Noise in the centre yard is not dealt with.
