This was by far the worst experience I’ve had with accommodation. The elevator was constantly broken, and towards the end of the contract it was out of service for almost two months straight. This made daily life extremely inconvenient, especially when I had to move out on time without any flexibility. Requesting repairs was also very difficult. Responses were slow, and at one point I was even told to buy a plunger myself, which is unacceptable for a place that charges rent. Oil dripped from the motor of the cooker hood, and even after requesting repairs, no one ever came to fix it. This was quite dangerous when cooking. Cleanliness was another major issue. When moving in, I found dirt on the window area, showing that the place had not been properly cleaned before new tenants arrived. On top of that, the windows only open slightly, making the room very stuffy with poor ventilation. There is no gym, and the location feels unsafe. The walk from the bus stop to the building is quite isolated, and there are often groups of people gathering in the area. However, I was never robbed or physically harmed. Overall, I would not recommend this accom. There are far better options that provide proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.

I love the accommodation it’s close to campus and the staff are outstanding! They are always able to help. Maintenance usually attends within 2 days and if urgent straight away. The main common room and courtyard is a lovely place I would recommend living here. There have been a few people who sit on the steps but iv spoken to reception and they go and move them along. Honestly the best team and building Iv lived at

I’ve been living at Zinc Quarters as a student and my experience has been really good. The reception staff and the manager are always friendly and helpful, and whenever there’s a concern it gets sorted quickly. They also organise nice events for students, which makes the place feel welcoming and social. Overall, it’s been a great place to live while studying and I’m really happy here.

This review is directed to Zinc Works (I suspect that review page is not being monitored), so I am leaving it here. Firstly, when the dryer will finally be repaired? It has been broken for over a year, and Student Roost has shown no interest in addressing the issue. To make matters worse, one resident has shared photo that the staff are using the washers and dryers to clean mops and dirty wipes. I MEAN REALLY???? IS THIS THE REASON WHY OUR WASHERS AND DRYERS CONSTANTLY BROKEN DOWN? This is completely unacceptable given that residents are expected to wash their personal clothing and bedding in the same machines. On top of that, only four machines are provided for around 100 flats - you could do the maths now. Secondly, the social events are virtually non-existent. There appears to be little effort put into organising them, which is disappointing. Thirdly, requesting repairs is extremely frustrating. We are often told issues will be fixed on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, but this rarely happens. Instead, residents are left waiting at least two weeks (But what can I say - it seems to be only one person responsible for all maintenance. Student Roost is fairly good at controlling the cost in this aspect) Additionally, we are now restricted to using only the common lounge on our own floor, whereas previously we could access others. This makes little sense, especially since most of those spaces are usually empty. Moreover, you cannot open the "window", only two small gaps. Good luck in Summer guys. Overall, the rent charged does not reflect the standard of services and facilities provided. The only positives are the presence of a reception and the fact that most staff members are polite and nice. Edit: it is been two weeks - no one answer

I stayed in this accommodation for a year and can say that it was my least enjoyable year to live anywhere, when I moved in and decided to look in the games room that they say so much about on the website I was presented with a broken pool table and a ping pong table which was just some old wooden table, the pipes in my shower would flood for the first 6 months I lived there l, the freezer would stop working and all food would go off and I was electrocuted by a plug in the mains. Not to mention I was paying £300 a week for this, I feel scammed, ripped off and to be honest I don’t understand how this was my only option of accommodation for my foundation year. I would never recommend moving into any student roost accommodation
