About this property
Living in the city centre changes how you experience Bristol as a student. Instead of planning your day around buses, many places you need regularly are within walking distance. That includes university buildings, supermarkets, cafés, libraries, shops, and evening hangouts.
Centre Gate sits on Colston Avenue in central Bristol and offers a mix of shared apartments and private studios. The property suits students who want to stay close to the city's academic and social areas without living on the outskirts and travelling every day.
Address:Colston Avenue, Bristol BS1 4TR, United Kingdom
One of the main advantages of Centre Gate Bristol is its location.
A quick grocery run is easy with Sainsbury's Local and Tesco Express nearby. If you like training before lectures or after classes, PureGym Bristol Union Gate and The Gym Group Bristol City Centre are both within walking distance.
The Centre bus stop sits close to the building, which helps when travelling towards other parts of Bristol, including UWE campuses. Bristol Temple Meads can also be reached without much difficulty when you're travelling home for the weekend or arriving back after a break.
The area around Colston Avenue stays busy throughout the day. Coffee shops, restaurants, independent stores, study spots, and city-centre amenities are spread across the surrounding streets, so most daily errands can be done without travelling far.
Accommodation becomes part of your routine very quickly. Where you buy groceries, how long it takes to reach lectures, where you study outside your room, and how easily you can get across the city all start to matter after the first few weeks of term.
City-Centre Position: Living in the centre means many parts of Bristol are accessible on foot. Restaurants, shops, entertainment venues, libraries, and transport links are all nearby.
Room Choices: The property includes both shared apartments and private studios.
Some students prefer sharing a kitchen with a small number of flatmates. Others want their own kitchen and living space. Both options are available here.

The location here is very convenient, whether it's for getting to the city center or the school. The environment here is clean and tidy, and the staff are all very responsible. From the distribution and collection of parcels to the cleaning of the corridors, everything is done very well. The reported issues are also promptly resolved, which is fantastic.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the staff at Centre Gate. They have always resolved any issues I encountered with remarkable speed, and their support has made my stay in Bristol genuinely comfortable. When I first moved in, the receptionist welcomed me with the warmest smile and immediately helped me sort out a minor room issue. Since then, every time I collected a parcel, she would hand it to me directly, and her morning greetings always brightened my day. The studio itself is exceptionally well-equipped. There is plenty of hot water, the heating stays consistently warm, and the layout is thoughtfully planned, making the space ideal for someone living alone. The large fridge makes cooking feel enjoyable, and there is more than enough storage for daily needs. Above all, the location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the university, which has made my daily routine so convenient. Overall, living at Centre Gate has been a truly pleasant and reassuring experience. I feel very fortunate and grateful to call this place home during my time in Bristol.

When I moved into the flat, there were multiple things wrong with it and it took them around 4 months to fix all of those problems, even though I repeatedly mentioned them. Additionally, there have been homeless people sleeping in the bin room, which is consistently disgusting, and fire alarms constantly going off at all hours of the day. Only decent person there is the maintenance guy, he is friendly and gets jobs done efficiently.

The Ethernet port in the dormitory is not working. Reporting for repairs doesn’t solve the problem, and I haven’t had any usable internet for a long time. Anyway, I don't recommend you to stay in this hostel. There was no hot water before, and they promised to solve it within two weeks, but it took half a year to solve it. Now there is no internet to report the problem and it cannot be solved. There is also no public rest area as promised by the dormitory, and the front desk is not open 24 hours a day.

A very cozy student apartment; the staff are all very friendly, and the place is kept very clean.
