Lived here for every semester at byui aside from 1 so far! So here are my Expert Opinions™️ PROS: +Super nice location. Close to campus and a bunch of shops/restaurants +Maintenance is very responsive! Usually take care of service requests the day after you submit them. +I've seen mixed reviews on the management (which, to be fair, does change pretty frequently) but I only ever had good experiences with them in the 3 years I've lived here +Covered and reserved parking!!! (Tip: check what number parking spots are close to the apartment/floor you're gonna be in before picking one) +Amenities are nice, although I only ever really used the study rooms and free haircuts which are sooo good. Seriously the free hairstylist at the cedars usually did a better job than the hairstylists I paid to cut my hair lmao +Cleaning checks are appropriate but not overkill +Space under the beds and extendable faucets in the kitchen are underappreciated features! Shout-out to all my middle bedroom enjoyers btw 🗣️🗣️🗣️ CONS: -Pretty expensive. $1800 for fall semester is a bit overpriced imo even if it's the busiest season (might as well be $2000 if you're getting a parking pass too) -Fills up really fast, and parking passes go even faster!! Try to apply a semester in advance! -Walls are kinda thin so you can hear everything happening in the apartment (although your upstairs/downstairs neighbors probably won't be an issue thankfully) and the dryer makes a CRAZY LOUD AND LONG BUZZING SOUND when it finishes a cycle 💀 -Small maintenance issues like wood paneling peeling off, stains in some drawers, 90% of the vacuums in the apartments just don't work, and don't even get me started on the carpets bro -The way people drive in that parking garage is borderline criminal. -People in the courtyard and parking garage can be sooo loud at night. I'd recommend getting an apartment that faces the outside if you can. -This last one is kinda petty but they have 3 practice rooms with pianos/keyboards and none of them work properly lol That's everything!! Overall, I'd recommend the Cedars to anyone who can afford it! :^)

Avoid This Place – Management Is Unreasonable and Unfair Management here is only after your money and will take the lazy way out of everything. They refused to let me stay for summer because I didn’t have a fall contract — meanwhile, my fiancé was allowed to stay because he had one. When they learned he was getting married and planned to sell his fall contract, they canceled it entirely, forcing him (an international student) to scramble for summer housing. They also refused to remove a “room holding” fee from his account, sending us back and forth between departments until we were told only his direct management could remove it — and they still haven’t. On top of that, they deducted from my security deposit for a “lost key” that I absolutely turned in. They kept half my deposit over this false claim. These practices are unfair, possibly illegal, and deeply frustrating. Do not live here if you want to avoid dishonest and unhelpful management.
