Appalachian South Apartments - ASU4Rent, boone-nc

I enjoyed my stay at Appalachian South. I had an "efficiency" there about three years ago, and remember being impressed with its spaciousness, especially for the price, which at the time was very low. Decent neighbors, usually [but not always] quiet, and within walking distance of the campus. For the price, you pretty much can't beat it. The management especially was very accommodating. I always spoke to them in person if I needed anything, and judging by the other reviews, I think it's safe to say that is the best practice. However, they always rushed to accommodate me, and are one of the few places in town that I'm aware of, that will not only allow you to sublease, but supply you with the paperwork to make it binding. That kind of flexibility I just haven't seen elsewhere.

My daughter lived at their Fairview complex for 3 years. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful from before we even stepped foot on the property. We found them to be extremely responsive to any questions. Move-in was simple and uncomplicated. The couple of times that she needed maintenance were responded to on the same day. The apartments were older (thin walls and creaky floorboards) and simple without all the extra amenities (though she did have a washer and dryer in her unit) but hers was clean and secure. It was the perfect space in a fantastic location. A huge plus was that they offered free parking for parents when we came up to visit. Move out was a breeze and we didn't have any weird charges. Her time here was excellent. I'd highly recommend.

I lived at App South from 2018-2020. I paid $390/month and could walk to all of my classes on the main campus at App. Never had any issues parking in my lot. The apartment was run down, but not in an extremely unsafe or gross way. They're old, haven't been updated, but functional and spacious! I loved living there because it was affordable and close to campus, and that's really all any budget-conscious college student can want. I got almost all of my deposit back, too. Maintenance was always great. My sink leaked several times and they always came within 24 hours of the request. Stephanie at the office is the sweetest. My appliances were run down and the under-sink cabinets were water-logged, so that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. I think you get what you pay for.

I've leased from almost every large rental company in Boone and they are easily the most accommodating. The few times we needed maintenance, we were able to schedule something within a day or 2. They always provided notice when anyone was coming to the apartment. Stephanie in the office was always extremely kind and helped us find a subletter when we moved out a few months early. If you've rented in Boone for multiple years then I'm sure you understand what a nightmare some of the leasing companies can be, the leases are very strict and we often have to decide to live somewhere 6-7 months in advance. It allows rental companies to take advantage of tenants because the demand for apartments is always higher than the supply. The only companies I would rent from at this point are ASU4Rent and Cap Properties. Always kept their word and treated us with respect as tenants.

Have received great care and support living in Appalachian south apartments for now the 3rd year in a row. The staff at the office are very helpful and friendly and I recommend them highly for anyone in search of off-campus accommodation in Boone! Maintenance requests are always seem to quite promptly and the rental rates are pretty fair.
