I actually lived at The Block on 25th West but I don’t think there is a Google site for it, so I’m leaving my review here. Cons: - Elevator often out of service (the worst) - Old building - When we moved in, our unit was completely trashed and disgusting. I don’t think this is particularly common, it was due to some miscommunication internally - Prices raising Pros: - If you get outward facing to Pearl St, SO BEAUTIFUL!! - Gym - Rooftop !!! So beautiful - Office in the building for 25th West - Cheap - Good maintenance (s/o JC) - Trash chutes on floor I know I’ve left criticisms on a 5 star review, but my 3 years at The Block were the best ever. Our unit truly was so beautiful and felt like home. Some of that was our love as tenants into the apartment, some of it was just the natural beauty of the place. I just can’t over emphasize how much joy having this place gave me and how distraught I was to leave. This is really just a place for me to put on display my love for my home the past 3 years.

this apartment complex sucks. the only good thing is the prices. we have had a roaches problem and have had multiple tickets in asking for assistance. they refuse to assist because "they didn't see them" when they went into our apartment. they were in our fridge, our washer, toaster, food, and so much more. other problems: - mold was given the landlord special and painted over (pictures) - the balcony was left absolutely disgusting when we first moved in with a dog pee pad (pictures) - did not clean up after last resident (pictures) - ceiling fan fell out of the roof (pictures) - toilet broke - there was a huge dead roach in my shower light that leaked brown water. when they fixed it, they just cut a hole, removed the roach and the light still leaks. - in the beginning of the year, they mixed up peoples parking passes to the east and west garage and made it extremely difficult to find parking. - when someone parked directly behind me, instead of towing they tried to help me wiggle my way out, but when i parked in someones spot by accident because of their mixing up of parking passes, I was called and threatened to be towed. - our broken washing machine flooded the apartment - parking garage sizes suck, look at the cars later and a lot of them will have orange paint on them because the spaces are not properly sized

When moving in there was a dead baby bird and its nest on the balcony - reported this to maintenance which took roughly a week to even come see it - they saw it went to look for a broom in the building and could not find one so they left it. The dead bird carcass sat on my balcony for over a month after moving in. They switched the locks on everyone in one day with their office opening at 10 and closing at 5 for new key pick ups, I was a student who had early classes and worked past 5pm I emailed them days prior asking about how I could get a key sooner or after hours and got no response, I was instead locked out of my apartment overnight in the winter and had to spend hours searching for a place to stay. The maintenance would often leave my door wide open when working and rarely did I receive notice when they were coming. And now after moving out they have charged me multiple false cleaning fees, my mom bought a special water blasting bathroom scrub wand and cleaned the bathrub thoroughly, as well as my kitchen. I have $50 cleaning fees for the bathtub, oven, and many other random fees that all are fraudulent scams. Also the elevators never worked. Do not rent with The Block or any American Campus Community run space.

After moving out from the block, they will continue to charge you fees for no reason. My roommate and I moved in to our apartment and took videos of everything inside the apartment when we moved in. After moving out, the complex charged us both for removing furniture they had put in there. After explaining multiple times that the charges were unfair due to the furniture being there when we moved in, the manager stopped answering us and has yet to refund that charge. On multiple occasions they have tried to charge me for other various things including a lost mail key (wasn’t lost) and not returning a garage pass (was never given one). They will charge you every chance they get!

Do NOT sign at the block. This place gave us so many issues and staff was not helpful. Our dryer has been broken for months and takes hours to dry our clothes. The dryer also got lint stuck on all the clothes. Our heater was broken from the beginning of December all the way to February, so our apartment was extremely cold. We lost electricity soo many times and the internet was always very spotty which was super inconvenient when you are trying to study as a college student. The microwave would also break randomly and there were many bugs in the apartment. The sinks leak all the time and at one point the sinks started to let out black fluid with rust which leaked all over my belongings that were placed under the sink in the bathroom. Packages are also left out and placed on the floor entrance of the building and mail is usually misplaced or lost. The building also leaks every time it rains.
