About this property

The Summit Leicester

If your current vibe is "trapped in a basement" and you are ready to manifest a serious glow-up, it is time to check into The Summit Leicester Student Accommodation. Located on Eastern Boulevard, this property is literally the peak of student living—and we mean that quite literally, as it’s one of the tallest buildings in the city. If you’ve ever wanted to wake up, pull back the curtains, and feel like you own the Leicester skyline, this is your sign. It is a high-rise sanctuary designed for students who want to keep their academic focus sharp and their aesthetic strictly elite.

Staying at The Summit is a major power move for your social standing and your sleep schedule. You are positioned perfectly on the edge of the Bede Island area, which is essentially the student heartbeat of the city. We are talking about a 4-minute stroll to De Montfort University (DMU)—so close you can basically hear the lecture start from your window. For the "academic weapons" at the University of Leicester, you are a chill 20-minute walk or a quick bike ride away. Managed by the pros at Student Roost, this building is a masterpiece of high-spec studio living, offering everything from sleek tower studios to expansive annex apartments.

The interiors here are giving major "main character" energy. Whether you are living in the iconic Tower or the modern Annex, every room is a self-contained sanctuary. We are talking double beds for maximum cozy vibes, triple wardrobes for those excessive shopping hauls at Highcross, and dedicated study zones with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer the best views in the 0116. It is bright, sophisticated, and undeniably top-tier.

Choosing this property means you are embracing a life of total connectivity. You have the riverside walks, the city’s best curry houses, and the electric energy of the West End right on your doorstep. From the on-site cinema room to the exclusive access to sister-property facilities (we see you, 24/7 gym), every inch of this building is curated to support your wellness and your degree. If you are ready to trade the basic life for a high-spec reality in Leicester’s most iconic skyscraper, you have officially found your home. It is the ultimate move for the student who wants to live at the top of their game.

Life at The Summit Leicester

Life at this property is a 24/7 curated experience that prioritizes your mental health, your gains, and your social status. Let’s talk facilities, because The Summit Student Accommodation really understood the assignment. We know that movement is non-negotiable for your sanity, which is why residents get exclusive, free access to the high-spec gym at the sister property, Upperton Road, just a 3-minute walk away. When you aren't hitting personal bests, the on-site cinema room and games area (complete with pool and foosball) are the ultimate spots to decompress with the squad.

The social experience here is designed for those who value community without the constant chaos. Because it is a studio-led building, you get the peace of your own space combined with the high-energy vibe of a global community. The building features a secluded "hidden garden" and BBQ area, perfect for those rare British summer days when you need to touch grass and vibe with your neighbors. The social calendar is actually legendary—think movie nights, quizzes, and grab-and-go breakfasts that make early mornings significantly less tragic. It is a space that balances your social battery with your academic grind perfectly.

Safety is the one thing you will never have to worry about in this Leicester fortress. The Summit features a dedicated 24-hour on-site team that is always available to assist, whether you’ve lost your keys or just need a friendly face at 3 AM. We are talking about secure building entry, 24/7 CCTV, and a professional parcel management system that ensures your latest fashion drops are kept safe until you can collect them. You even have access to 24/7 wellbeing support, because we know university life can be a lot sometimes.

Practicality is woven into every detail of your tenancy. You get all-inclusive bills as standard—water, electricity, heating, and super-fast Wi-Fi (up to 100Mbps) are all covered in your rent with zero hidden caps. No surprise utility spikes and zero drama over who left the lights on. You even get free contents insurance to keep your tech and gear protected at all times. It is a seamless, sophisticated setup that handles the boring adulting bits so you can focus 100% on winning at life while looking out over the city.

Neighbourhood and Lifestyle near The Summit Leicester

If you haven’t experienced the vibe of the Bede Island and West End area yet, prepare for a lifestyle that is both electric and perfectly connected. Staying at Student Accommodation The Summit Leicester means your backyard is officially the most sought-after student district in the city. You are positioned right by the River Soar, giving you the most aesthetic walking routes to campus. Whether you need a morning caffeine fix from a local indie spot or a massive grocery haul from the nearby Lidl or Tesco, everything is in your immediate orbit.

The lifestyle here is a perfect split between urban intensity and scenic escapes. You are minutes away from Castle Park and the river—perfect for those "touch grass" moments when the assignments feel a bit too much. For the "culture vultures," the Highcross Shopping Centre and the historic Guildhall are just a short stroll away, offering the most iconic backdrops for your socials. The neighbourhood is safe, inclusive, and buzzing with international energy, providing the perfect environment for students from all over the globe to find their tribe and thrive.

Lifestyle-wise, you are perfectly placed for total mobility. You have Leicester Train Station just a 20-minute walk away, making spontaneous trips to London or Birmingham a literal breeze. For a night out, you are seconds away from the bars of Braunstone Gate and the city centre’s nightlife. Your connectivity is the ultimate life hack: you get the best of the city’s culture and nightlife without the long trek home.

The neighbourhood is a mix of creative energy and academic intensity. You can spend your mornings grinding in the dedicated study rooms on-site and your evenings exploring the legendary curry houses on Narborough Road. It is a district that supports your ambition while providing the perfect backdrop for your social life. You get the best of both worlds: a location that is social without being overwhelming and central without being noisy. It is the ultimate location for anyone who wants a high-quality lifestyle that matches their ambition in one of the UK’s most legendary student cities.

Here’s a few honest pros and cons from someone who lived here for 2 years: Pros: 1. Always really friendly staff 2. Usually a vending machine under the stairs on the ground floor which was handy (although this broke and disappeared about 2 months before I moved out - bring Mother back!!!!) 3. Great location - plenty of shops nearby, right by the river, Starbucks just up the road, and close to DMU 4. Lived on the 19th floor, really cool views and felt very safe up there. Windows are floor to ceiling which allows in loads of beautiful natural light. 5. Plenty of room and space in the flat 6. Decent storage space (wardrobe and under-bed storage) 7. Nice under-cupboard lighting in kitchen, great for the evening if you don’t want the big light on 8. Comes with plenty of appliances and features, like a TV, microwave, bin, light above mirror, pressure settings on shower etc. 9. 24/7 security. Always someone in reception to help or if you need to collect a parcel 10. Full body mirror (positioned too low for my 6’3 boyfriend though so beware if you’re tall) 11. Towel rail broke in my flat and was replaced quickly and free of charge. Cons: 1. Flats get unbearably hot in warm weather. I physically could not live in the flat past May until late September. Anything above 16° will have your room like a sauna (and this is not an exaggeration, you will sweat just standing still). Your window will not open nearly enough to let any cool air in either. 2. The place needs a good refurbish to modernise it a bit and fresh lick of paint (but this is just cosmetic - personally I had no proper issues with anything. Just needs modernising slightly) 3. Had a VERY noisy neighbour in my first year of living at the Summit who would play their music so loud that it prevented me from sleeping almost every night (I worked a job where I had to be up quite early (5:30am) some mornings so this was especially a pain for me). Notified staff multiple times to complain of noise and nothing was ever done besides knocking on neighbour’s door and meekly asking them to turn it down (which of course would be disregarded by my neighbour within minutes of staff member leaving). Luckily had a quiet neighbour in my second year so had no issues. But yes - walls are thin. Pray your neighbour keeps the noise down and doesn’t regularly have equally loud friends round all the time. 4. Fire alarms can be relentless for a week or so sometimes. Eventually you will realise that people stop evacuating after about a month of traipsing halfway down the stairs just for the fire alarm to stop within about 3 minutes. The number of fire alarms do calm down for periods of time though. Expect them at ANY time of the day, even 4am. 5. Lifts often break down. At least one will break at least once a month. Sometimes both at the same time. Walking up 19 storeys was grim - choose your flat wisely! 6. One of my under-cupboard lights broke in my first year, anywhere from October-December 2022. When I moved out in July 2024, the light was still broken. Emailed reception about this many, many times to no avail. Whether or not something is fixed in your flat is a total 50/50 chance. 7. Laundry room is a bit of a nightmare as there are about 6 washing machines and tumble dryers for hundreds of people. Wash your stuff in the middle of the night and void Sundays - always rammed on a Sunday!! 8. Lots of rats do live in the bin store unfortunately so avoid ground floor flats Overall, I did really enjoy living here, despite the issues. I loved Leicester and it truly became my new home. I will miss my little flat terribly (even if it was way too warm in there sometimes!). Thank you to the Summit staff for keeping me safe, always having a chat with me when I saw you, and thank you to Student Roost for having me. I miss it so much already.

This place is ok. The cons I had were in terms of cleanliness and hygiene. When I came the floor was dirty, the toilet was broken, and I had to spend my time with bugs. I thankfully had bleach and killed them but they kept coming so good luck if you stay here. The water is disgusting pretty much everywhere in the UK but the hard water here leaves white particles so bring a filter for your shower and tap. Neighbours are pretty loud and they smoke weed all the time (119 room). They did send ecolab to put traps in my room but they weren’t effective so I sleep every night with the fear that one might crawl on me. They said “the bugs are harmless”. I hope Ecolab and the Summit enjoy sleeping with these bugs too then if they’re so harmless. I did send emails mind you, but no deep cleaning has been done and no dehumidifier has been placed like the Ecolab worker said. Thankfully my fridge, microwave and stove work. I mean that’s bare minimum standards and so is hygiene. UK in general is very gross or I’m just extremely into cleaning. Here’s some harmless pictures for you :) oh and the fire alarm goes off consistently almost every other morning. Thankfully hasn’t happened at night. I’m also very lucky my mailbox isn’t broken or anything else isn’t broken because other people’s things are. I’ll put pictures here for that too don’t worry. I feel bad for the employees because they have to handle so many complaints and there’s no procedure or process taught to them. They’re probably not even paid enough.

I gave The Summit a 5-star rating because they maintain the building, have good customer service, and if anything needs fixing in the room, it is taken care of promptly. I hope all housing can be as good as The Summit.

I booked what was advertised as a hotel-standard studio through Hotels.com, but when I arrived, nothing was ready. After being told to wait, I spent over an hour outside in the cold before being moved into a completely different room in a tower building, which was clearly not the studio I booked. The room was dirty, smelled strongly of cigarettes, and had no toilet paper or towels — I had to run to a shop just to use the bathroom. The carpet was stained, the shower filthy, and one of the two lights didn’t work. The bedding didn’t feel or smell fresh, despite being told otherwise by reception. It’s now the middle of the night, and I can’t sleep due to loud noise, wind, and even someone whistling every 20 minutes. I’ve been sitting here in noise-cancelling headphones just to cope. This has been an awful experience, and I will not be staying another night, even though I booked two. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone — it’s nothing like what’s advertised and completely unfit for guests.
