The Cottages At Cumberland Forest, tallahassee-fl

This place is decent. Although, it is comfortable to live in and feels spacious compared to other apartments there are two main problems. One you will experience American cockroaches and two maintenance is horrible. I put in a maintenance request twice to get a lifting vinyl tile on my floor fixed and two times it was stated to be completed but was not. Also, once they replaced the weatherstripping in the doors and left the front doors including mine and a neighbors without weatherstripping overnight. So bugs could go through the gaps. A roach did in fact enter my room from outdoors because of this. I had to seal it off with my own weatherstripping temporarily to feel safe. Otherwise from that everything is wonderful. But, there is no reason why management does not handle this roach problem, it’s not fair to the unknowing renter or the people living in the quarters. The current 4.1 stars is not warranted.

There are cockroaches here. I believe it is because there are missing parts of the baseboards and the weather stripping is not completely insulating. I requested the pest control many times but it did not make much of a difference. They would go away after putting out roach bait, but they need to be continuously changed out. 385 rent should really go and fumigate, but they choose to ignore this issue. The hot water would run out sometimes depending on if others were using the washing machine/dish washer. I liked having a private entrance, but only people in rooms A and D get easy access to their private entrance. The back rooms have to walk around the house to privately enter. The washing machine tore up my polo sweatshirt and nice sheets, but overall it did its job. I enjoyed having a mini fridge, microwave and extra sink in my room.

I stayed in Cumberland Forest for a year. From the minute I got there, 385Rent did their best to try and accommodate me. I was so pleased with Jennifer and the office staff. I never had any issues with maintenance. Whenever I requested it, it was handled by the end of the following day. If I needed assistance I could call the office and they were ready to help me. Not to mention the room sizes are huge! They have a kitchenette area with an extra sink, microwave, and mini fridge with a great amount of cabinet space. I also liked that the walls weren’t thin. I couldn’t hear my roommates in their rooms while I was in mine. That was great! I would recommend leasing through 385Rent to anyone. If I could go back I would!

The design and layout of the apartments is really nice. Vaulted ceilings make a huge difference for space and lighting. Rent is reasonable. Biggest downside would be maintenance being extremely sluggish responding to issues. I have water damage in my unit on the ceiling in the living room that hasnt been dealt with since Hurricane Irma in August. Every time it rains the ceiling leaks. My roommates have mentioned this to management directly and nothing has been done to resolve it either. EDIT: Maintenance has fixed the issues above. The manager, Jennifer, was quick and polite in responding to my request and resolving the matter. Changed my previous 1 star review to 4 to reflect the quality of service received.

I've lived here for a year. It was an awesome experience overall. I've really enjoyed my time. Rent is reasonable. Management is friendly and very responsive to every request and maintenance calls. Rooms are comparatively big. Vaulted ceilings create a more spacious feeling.
