*READ BEFORE BOOKING* Positives: Good location, multiple shops nearby. Negatives: My move-in was on a weekend, but it was never mentioned that reception is closed after 5 PM and fully closed on weekends, and that there is no security on-site. While some accommodations follow similar reception hours, they usually have security available. This place does not. I was left standing outside with all my luggage until a resident let me in. Once inside, the reception door also required a key, and there were no instructions, no emergency contact details, and no student warden number displayed anywhere. After calling at least 15 times, the warden finally responded and I received my key. Extremely stressful and unprofessional, especially for international students. The building is extremely old and poorly converted. My room was dirty on arrival, with an unclean toilet and oily residue in the carpet that took three cleaning attempts. Garbage is collected only once a week. Although you can request earlier collection, there is no garbage room, and on collection days corridors are filled with trash, causing bad smells and hygiene issues. Strong cooking odours constantly fill the corridors, as residents leave doors open to avoid triggering the very sensitive fire alarms, which frequently go off late at night, sometimes after midnight. The shared water system means limited hot water in winter. During one of the coldest winters, my heater stopped working, and I had to wait days for a replacement. For the first few months, residents were repeatedly forced to leave their rooms for 8 to 9 hours for maintenance, which is completely unacceptable. Staff were decent, but the building itself is outdated, and the lift is slow and unreliable. I paid £149 per week, which was the worst £149 I have ever spent. Even when the price dropped to £99, it was still not worth it. Final verdict: Poor organisation, no security, hygiene issues, constant disruptions, and outdated facilities. Avoid booking this accommodation at all costs.

Residing at The Moor proved to be an absolutely fantastic experience, and it truly made my year as a student memorable. I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the site team for their unwavering patience and helpfulness during my stay. I did come across a few negative comments about the place, which I find rather puzzling. It's important to remember that technical glitches can happen in any living space, and it's our responsibility as residents to maintain the property to avoid such issues. In my view, The Moor accommodation deserves a flawless rating of 10/10. It offered me an outstanding environment to thrive during my student life, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to call home during that time.

Avoid this place at all costs - I lived here for one year and it was a nightmare. The accommodation is very unsafe, downstairs door was broken for months and couldn't lock, and even after it was fixed homeless men kept getting in the building and sleeping in the corridors. There was a cockroach infestation and this issue was first dismissed for months, and later badly managed. There was also a leak of harmful gases that some people had to inhale for weeks in their rooms. Elevator was mostly broken over the course of the year, so people moving in had to carry up their suitcases over multiple flights of stairs. The rooms are much smaller than in the pictures, they are four steps in length from the front door to the bed, and zero steps wide (standard room). The bathroom is the same size as a plane toilet. The location is right in the city center, so you either face the main street and it's constantly noisy from people shouting / playing music / protesting, or you face the parking lot where you're constantly hearing cars drive in and out. On that side it's also very dangerous because your window is directly facing the parking lot, so people can easily get inside your room, and you get no privacy. The staff were trying to be helpful but couldn't do their job very well, and we got staff constantly being fired and replaced (sometimes it took months to find a replacement), so it was really hard to find a manager on shift to manage issues. You are not legally protected by the contract, so no matter how many issues you face, it is hard to find a way to move out or get your money back. The Collegiate business does not care about residents' wellbeing or safety, and I am sure that things will not get better over the coming years, instead the same or new issues will arise. You have been warned so book at your own risk.
