About this property
Many students start looking for accommodation after checking one thing first — how long it takes to get to campus.
Castle Court Leicester sits on Castle Street, only a few minutes from De Montfort University and within walking distance of Leicester city centre. That location alone puts lectures, supermarkets, cafés, takeaways, and evening plans close enough that most days don't require much travel.
The accommodation mainly consists of en-suite rooms in shared flats. You get your own bedroom and bathroom, while the kitchen and living space are shared with other residents. For some students, that balance works well because you still have your own space when you need it, but there are people around when you don't feel like sitting in your room all evening.
Address: 33 Castle Street, Leicester LE1 5WL, United Kingdom
One of the first things you'll notice about this part of Leicester is how much is already within walking distance. Picking up groceries, meeting friends for coffee, heading to campus, or catching a bus across the city rarely requires much planning.
Tesco Express branches on Haymarket Towers and Granby Street are both nearby, which helps when the fridge is empty and you need something quickly. ALCOVE, Crafty, and Heritage Café are regular stops for many students looking for somewhere to work outside their room or grab lunch between lectures.
Castle Gardens and Castle Park sit close to the property and give you somewhere quieter when you want a break from busy streets and university buildings. Victoria Park is also easy to reach.
Several bus services run from nearby St Nicholas Circle, while Leicester Railway Station makes travelling home or visiting other cities straightforward.
After a few weeks of living here, most day-to-day routines become fairly simple because the essentials are already nearby.
Accommodation starts to matter after the excitement of moving in wears off.
You realise how useful it is when the library is nearby, when you can walk to lectures instead of catching a bus, or when your rent already covers the bills.
A few things regularly attract students to Castle Court accommodation.
A Short Walk to De Montfort University
Many residents can leave ten minutes before a lecture and still arrive on time. That becomes particularly useful during early morning classes and exam season.
City Centre Nearby
Living here places you close to places students already use throughout the week:
Most errands fit naturally into the day rather than becoming a separate trip.
Bills Already Sorted
The weekly rent includes:
Nothing extra needs setting up after arrival.
Spaces Outside Your Flat
Nobody wants to spend every evening in the same room.
Castle Court includes:
Some residents use these spaces for coursework; others use them simply as a change of scenery after spending hours on campus.
All rooms at Castle Court Leicester include a study desk, storage space, a bed, and a private bathroom.
Ensuite Rooms
What Changes Between Room Types?
The main difference comes down to size. Students who spend most of the day on campus usually choose the smaller room categories. Those who expect to revise from their room, attend online sessions, or stay in Leicester throughout the year sometimes prefer one of the larger options simply because the additional space becomes noticeable over time.
University life doesn't follow the same routine every day. One evening might involve coursework. Another might involve ordering food with flatmates and watching a film before an early lecture the next morning.
The facilities reflect those everyday habits.
These shared areas tend to become useful once the academic year gets busy because they give residents somewhere else to go besides their bedroom or the university library.
Student accommodation Leicester becomes easier to live in when the practical things are already taken care of.
Castle Court accommodation includes a mix of everyday facilities and shared spaces that residents use throughout the year.
Residents have access to:
These tend to be the facilities people appreciate most once the academic year becomes busy and there is less time to deal with everyday errands.
The building includes:
Many students move to Leicester without knowing the city particularly well, so having these measures in place can provide additional reassurance.
What's Included in the Rent?
Your weekly payment covers:
There is no need to arrange separate utility accounts after moving in.
Nearby Universities
A large part of Leicester's student population studies within a relatively small area of the city, which is one reason Castle Court Leicester remains popular year after year.
De Montfort University
The main De Montfort University campus is around 0.78 miles from the property.
Many residents walk to campus, and the journey takes only a few minutes. During exam periods and early morning lectures, being able to leave accommodation and reach university without relying on public transport can make a noticeable difference.
University of Leicester
The University of Leicester sits around 2.09 miles away, while Leicester Medical School is approximately 1.79 miles from the building.
Bus services from nearby St Nicholas Circle connect this part of the city with the university area, and many students also cycle between the two locations.
Other Institutions Nearby
A few other study destinations are also within reach:
Castle Court attracts a mix of students, but a few groups tend to find the setup particularly practical.
De Montfort University Students
The short walk to campus is one of the main reasons many residents book here. Less travel time usually means more flexibility during the week.
Students Who Prefer an En-Suite Room
Every room comes with its own bathroom.
Many students like having private bathroom facilities while still sharing a kitchen and communal area with flatmates.
Students Living Away From Home for the First Time
Large student communities can make settling into a new city easier. With hundreds of residents in the building, meeting people usually happens naturally through shared kitchens, communal areas, or social events.
Students Managing a Fixed Budget
Rent includes utilities, internet, and contents insurance, so monthly costs are easier to keep track of throughout the year.
Students Looking for City-Centre Living
Shops, cafés, supermarkets, parks, restaurants, and transport links all sit within easy reach of Castle Court Leicester. That location suits students who prefer having most of their weekly routine within walking distance.

Excellent accommodation for students at DMU. Very easy to get to campus and the security are very nice people especially samson and jacob. The rooms are great size and the cinema is a good place to watch the films with friends.

Nice accommodation, I did have a problem with this one flatmate Chantelle who kept stealing everyone’s food and blaming others. But the team is super friendly as they upgraded me to a bigger room swiftly for the trouble x
Miss A
Not the best accommodation in Leicester but does the job. Front of house are very friendly people however management can be dismissive.
