0/5 stars. Like this groups management is fairly incompetent in what they do. They will charge you on literally anything that they can. Especially late fees that were not made known to you prior, or even better, they will just shut off your WiFi for a day or so. Many times have had rodents running across the apartment hallways. They don’t have a smoke free policy so most of the time it smells like weed. I could go on, but what are they going to do about? Delete my review? DLK does not provide a clean and healthy environment for college students. They will call a tow company to tow your car if the parking sticker is not in the right place, even though you still have in your car. Lastly, it’s not fun going into a building when you know the lady there will always snap at you and talk to you in a demeaning voice, to be honest, I’d much rather talk to my ex if I wanted to snapped at.

I had a very disappointing experience with DLK and will not be renting from them again. My boyfriend received notice that his apartment would be shown within a broad time window. At the time of the showing, he was in the middle of an important work meeting, as he works remotely. When the agent arrived, he politely asked if she could return in 30 minutes once his meeting had concluded. Despite this reasonable request, the agent ignored him and stated that he would be charged a $50 fee if he did not allow entry. Although he did not grant permission, the agent proceeded to enter the apartment anyway. I was in the bedroom at the time, and she entered without acknowledgment and began showing the space. Meanwhile, my boyfriend’s meeting had just started. The agent continued to roll her eyes and glare at me while she was showing the room. After the incident, we contacted DLK to speak with a manager, Tony. He referenced the lease agreement regarding the $50 fee but did not acknowledge the agent’s conduct or offer any apology for the situation. Overall, this experience reflected a lack of professionalism and respect for tenant privacy. A report has been filed with the DATCP.

I wish we had a Zohran Mamdani in Wisconsin to go after Slum-lords like DLK. They are VERY MUCH a monopoly in whitewater, and just like all monopolies, they abuse their power. I live in the nicest rentals they have in town, and even then I still have to run the shower water for 2min before the water is anything more than lukewarm. Along with one of the bedrooms in my apartment having a horrible stench come from it. I bought a portable carpet cleaner to try and combat it, and whatever’s in that carpet turns the water dark yellow or completely black depending on where in the room I’m cleaning. I cant imagine what kind of stuff is happening in their less nice apartments, but I don’t have to since there’s plenty of reviews of people who do live in them

Apartment was nice and rent was decent, but I emailed and called the company over a dozen times about a variety of things while we rented and only ever got one response. They tried to charge me for rent twice on one occasion after I had already proved that the payment went through, and my lot literally NEVER had parking. There are 24 bedrooms in my building (Hull House) and only 18 spots. I would come home from work late and would literally have to risk getting a ticket or towed because the lot was always full and DLK never responded to my emails asking what to do about it.

This company is what some would say a "slumlord". I lived in one of their apartments for 8 months and the biggest issue that I had was that they have animals in the walls. I called and told them a few days after I moved in that there was something in the walls, it could be mice, and all they did was set up mouse traps. A month later I encountered a bat in my living room and had to get it out myself. I ended up having to get rabies shots and they said that since they did not know about the bat the cost of the shots was not their problem. I told them there was something in the walls but since I did not specify that it could be a bat, they did not bother to do their diligence and check. Another thing about this company is that they charge fees for everything. They charged a $200 fee for me to sublease. This would have been fine if they would have inspected the previous tenants' damage or cleaned but they did not. It was $200 for me to sign a piece of paper. They also have all of their pricing set up by semester, but they told me over the phone that I could pay half upfront and then pay monthly for the remainder. What they failed to mention was that I would have to pay for a parking pass if I did not pay for an entire semester up front. This company will take advantage of college students that do not know any better. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you have any other options.
