Hyperion Development - 548 Clarendon St, syracuse-ny

I do not recommend renting from Hyperion Development. The houses are nice for college housing (see 2 stars) but it does not make up for the hassle involved with this company. The landlord did not allow us to move in on our lease start date and when I arrived the house was not cleaned, I wore white socks and they were dirty in a matter of minutes. We paid for the all inclusive option, however I did not have wifi reaching my room for well into the second month of our lease. When I asked for the wifi to be extended, I was ignored for weeks and then ridiculed. A microwave was incorrectly reinstalled by the landlord of this company which ended up falling on me as soon as I opened it, barely putting any pressure on it. I would have had my arm crushed if my roommate had not been there to help me catch it. A lock box was place over our thermostat, without notice, to prevent us from putting the heat up too high. Fair, however the heat was repeatedly put below the legal temperature for winters in Syracuse (65 degrees). We did not receive our security deposit back until after the legal period had passed. This was due to being “unable to return it” until the water bill was obtained. I called and obtained the bill and did not receive my deposit for at least a week after. No matter how long you spend cleaning the house, don’t expect a good portion of your deposit back. Our house was cleaner when we left it than when I moved in and yet a large portion was still taken out. The house was entered numerous times without prior notice, doors where not knocked on during tours and the overall professionalism of this company was disappointing.
