DONT LIVE HERE. i choose this place because it was the cheapest near campus but i wish i wouldnt have. I got moved into the wrong apartment with only 1 working bathroom and had to move all my stuff to the right apartment on a random Wednesday once school had already began. First night i slept in the new place, i was covered in bed bug bites. I didn't have a beg bug problem at the wrong apartment they placed me at and i literally moved all my stuff in the same day, down the street. So my stuff did not have the bed bugs but they did nothing to help me, they kept sending pest control and they would find nothing but i would find some. They tried to blame the problem on me. I basically didnt sleep there for 2 months of living there because i was always covered in bites and i slept over at friends places and i never even unpacked my stuff. They told me i would have to pay to get the apartment fumigated and i said okay. IT never got fumigated. the problem didnt resolve its self until i did my own fumigation. I also got charged the wrong rent for almost 3 months straight.

NOT WORTH IT!!!!! Living at the Commons was overall not worth the cost. Rent is already high, and on top of that, utilities for a four-bedroom apartment came out to around $150–170 per person each month, which is excessive compared to what’s provided. Maintenance was extremely slow and frustrating to deal with! We went an entire month without air conditioning, which was unbearable, and I personally had no electricity in my room for five days. When I called, I was told to just “use a candle” in the meantime! Emergency maintenance was also unreliable. There were several instances of toilet flooding, and despite multiple calls, no one showed up; we had to reach out to friends for help. At move-out, I even hired a professional cleaning service, and the apartment was left spotless, cleaner than when I moved in, but I was still charged $150 for cleaning. To make matters worse, I had autopay set up and wasn’t notified about this extra charge. Two months later, my co-signer was contacted by a collection agency about it, which was incredibly stressful and unnecessary. The only positive I can mention is that the staff were always friendly and helpful. Even after I moved out, they still answered my questions and did their best to assist. Unfortunately, that alone does not make up for the overall poor experience.

The commons might have some of the worst property management i’ve ever seen. They will put paint over mold, send new subleases into the completely wrong apartment, and take more than a month to get to apartment melds. Can’t be said enough how bad they manage their tenants and shouldn’t be trusted worth a penny. Rent at your own risk.

The Commons is a wonderful place to live if you’re a UT student. It’s very convenient and close to campus. If there are any issues, maintenance responds relatively promptly. I highly recommend this apartments!

Absolutely terrible management. I lived there for 3 years because I got a relatively good rate for the fort, but just graduated in Dec and subleased my apartment for the spring semester…I cannot feel worse for my subleaser! Her lease started Jan 1, she picked up her keys and moved in Jan 19 to find out the commons assigned her to the completely wrong unit, leading her to walk into a random persons apartment. Luckily they were nice girls, but scary to think if that were not the case. They’re now telling her she has to wait a couple days to move into the RIGHT unit because they haven’t cleaned it yet…how was that not already taken care of? I received at $25 “carpet cleaning fee” Jan 16. If they had not cleaned my apartment yet, where did this fee come from? Absolutely terrible communication from management and awful experience overall. Not to mention during my stay, my roommates and I noticed mold growing on our walls as well as water damage on the ceiling, and this was taken care of through a spray treatment. While maintenance was quick to do this, it felt like putting a bandaid on a much larger issue.
