Review and ratings

Had to live with a damp wall from a shower leak for most of the term, which was only fixed in late November, near the end of the semester. There were also multiple power cuts. The reception staff were rarely available. I don’t blame them personally, but the management and their supervisors failed to handle these issues properly. For such an expensive place, it was not worth it at all. Frustratingly, the lowest rating allowed is only 1 star.

This place needs to be investigated, and, dare I say, shut down. There should be an option for zero stars to indicate mediocrity at all levels. The prolonged and repeated power cuts that have been mentioned in previous reviews are real and would seem impossible to imagine in a place like Edinburgh. Apart from a blackout in the premises, they have amounted to no heating and no internet. On two occasions, my son has had to spend the night elsewhere. If you think that the above is shocking, it gets worse. Contacting Unite for any kind of response is a nightmare. This place is opaque, as pitch black in integrity as the blackouts that happen. We only got generic responses for a full month before someone finally got in touch to arrange a meeting. Did the meeting happen? No! On the day, at the appointed time, the person in charge did not turn up. Can you even begin to imagine that? Stay away from this place. Contact the regulators (National Code Administrator), the University Student Affairs and consider taking them to court if you are in a similar situation. We are doing just this. And certainly do not enrol your loved ones here.
Adithya Sireesh
I’ve had nearly ten power cuts this term alone, and the situation has been awful. There has been no proper communication, no updates, and no reassurance from staff. Each outage has disrupted work, sleep, and daily life. For the price we pay, this level of instability is unacceptable. Students deserve basic reliability and transparency. I will not be rebooking for next year, and I strongly advise future students to think carefully before choosing this accommodation unless the power issues are actually fixed.

Stayed here a week during a solo holiday to Edinburgh. Based on what I payed, it was excellent. Of course it's not a luxurious place, but the room was clean and the kitchen as well. Appreciated the kind man helping me when I checked in. The ensuite room is however small so I was grateful staying in it myself, two in there would have felt very cramped. Note, there's nothing in the kitchen if you want to use it for cooking, meaning there's some basic utensils but no spices (not even salt), and no cooking oil or similar. The location is also great, walkable distance to most things in city centre yet still connected with many busses if you want to go further

I lived here for one year. The only lift we could use had been out of order for 8 months, considering I was living on the fifth floor with a rent of £320 per week. They compensated us £290 in total, considering our rent £320 per week 🙃
