The Bridge House is a nice student accommodation to stay in. Located close to the city centre and Edinburgh Universities' central campus, there are plenty of eating places and shops nearby. The Union Canal is just around the corner which is a scenic running/cycling/walking route. The kitchen size is sufficient to allow a few people to cook and eat at once. The bedrooms are modern which have a sink facility and provide a generous desk space. This accommodation has shared bathroom facilities where there are two bathrooms for a six person flat. There are plenty of study spaces for different needs in the communal area of the accommodation and there are a couple of lounges to play games with your friends. There are regular social events, allowing a sense of belonging at this accommodation. To improve, the accommodation could provide more facilities to allow more opportunities to unwind/ socialise with people such as providing a pool table.

Extortionate prices for subpar accommodation quality (£7 for a load of laundry). The room was entirely one shade of white, so it felt more like a cell than a bedroom. At least the study areas were a pleasant break from that.

I really appreciate that the reception is available 24/7 and that any maintenance issues in the flat are fixed quickly. However, the heating issue remained unresolved, and the winter here was quite cold.

Next to a primary school playground full of screaming kids and the windows are useful so its impossible to sleep. also the stove is shit and turns off by itself all the time

I understand that we booked to stay in dorm rooms and I am okay with that. What I wasn’t okay with was the constant banging and slamming of doors (due to nothing being used to soften or dampen the sound), the strange smell in our room that we couldn’t get rid of (so we had our window open the entire time - but we were on the ground floor by the door so we heard everyone coming and going - and the smoking and vaping they did came right into our room) and that we had to use an app to access the laundry facilities (that we couldn’t use because we have an EU SIM card and can’t access the code that they needed to send to verify my registration information ), so we had to pay 20 pounds to get our laundry done. The reason for 2 stars (and not 1) is that someone who works here tried to help with the smell by getting air fresheners, although they didn’t work (but they did try to help with that).
