PLEASE DONT LIVE HERE: If I could give zero stars I would. My experience living here was very disappointing. I will tell it briefly but there was so much more. First, were ongoing pest issues in the apartment, including ants and spiders, which made the space uncomfortable at times. Communication with management was also so frustrating. Many times emails were not answered until multiple follow-ups were sent, which made it difficult to get issues addressed in a timely manner. There were also several occasions where the hot water stopped working, and at times the water appeared discolored. Another concern was the move-out process and additional charges. They will do their best to charge you for any little thing after you move out and they will claim it’s beyond normal wear and tear when it’s not. Also a lot of the things that are enforced are not on the lease so it’s easy to walk in blind. Overall, the setup of the apartment was nice but the experience and treatment was horrible. I would recommend new management and fair policies. This is student housing and I felt as though they weren’t really supportive with that.

I lived here for one year. The rent increased from about $2100 to ~$2500 (~18%) without noticeable improvements in quality. Although the unit is advertised as “renovated,” many features still feel older. The carpet is uneven in some areas, and water leaks occurred multiple times (ceiling getting wet). Similar issues have been reported by other residents in the property as well. The blinds are relatively fragile, and several units appear to have broken ones. In terms of features, there is no central AC or garbage disposal. Cooling relies on two window AC units upstairs, with none on the first floor. Running both units may trip the breaker, and it can take time for cool air to reach downstairs. The unit is relatively small with an unconventional layout and limited natural light. Sound insulation is limited — normal TV audio from neighboring units can be heard through the walls. On the positive side, the environment is quiet and pleasant. The property is pet-friendly, there is a walking trail nearby, and parking is generally sufficient. Overall, it may be worth comparing other options within a similar price range.

Honestly, a very nice place with modern appliances and responsive maintenance staff. Openable windows (you wouldn't believe how much that helps), controllable heating and AC, you really couldn't ask for better there. Good about of cabinet space, though may or may be a bit lacking for four people if you all have your own stuff (cookware primarily). Came clean and is easy to keep clean. Walls are a bit thin, I could just have abnormally loud neighbors, but nothing too bothersome.

I love living at The Den. The supportive staff, reliable on-site maintenance, and comfortable living spaces make it an ideal place for new renters to feel welcomed and at home. Everything is well-maintained, and any questions or concerns are always addressed quickly. As a college student living in my first apartment, I truly appreciate how easy and comfortable the transition has been. I’m very glad I chose to Live The Den!

This is my first time ever leaving a review on Google, but I feel like I need to share my experience with The Den. I was a visiting student at UConn and spent 11 months living there, and honestly, I’m really disappointed. At first, everything seemed great. The manager was super friendly, promising me discounts and rushing me to sign the lease. But it was all a trap. When my lease ended, I made sure to clean everything thoroughly, but they hit me with outrageous repair charges. For example, they wanted me to pay over $200 for two ceiling tiles that were damaged by a leaking pipe—money that could’ve easily replaced an entire ceiling! And when I asked for an itemized repair bill, they refused to provide one. Out of the $500 security deposit I paid, they deducted $425, but what’s even worse is that they’ve yet to refund the remaining $75. I’ve sent multiple emails, and none of them were answered. It’s been four months since I moved out, and I still haven’t gotten my $75 back. Unfortunately, this seems to be a pattern for a lot of my fellow international students, especially other Chinese renters. We’ve all had our deposits unfairly deducted, anywhere from $300 to $700. It feels like The Den is taking advantage of students who don’t have much of a voice in these situations. I just want anyone thinking about signing a lease here to be aware and think twice before you commit.
