Palomar at SLO, san-luis-obispo-ca

Academy Palomar is super nice. In general, repairs and events make this place amazing. Location from school is good and the overall place is up to date and nice. If you are a light sleeper like me, make sure you’re in the right apartment complex. I’m next to the parking garage exhaust which is the loudest thing in existence. Some amenities are broken here and there and they could be repaired slightly quicker. Additionally, it gets really, really, really hot in the Summer because there’s no air conditioning. The apartments retain heat a little too well due to the one window that’s in the majority of the rooms. Overall, 3.5/5 for the place itself. Some things are missing for the high price that you pay.

The Academy has some pretty terrible reviews but I think those were written during peak COVID when the amenities were closed? I have had zero issues with the staff, everyone is super friendly and accommodating. The dryer was broken when I moved in and the maintenance guy was there within the next day to fix it! The complex is relatively sound proof compared to other apartments that I've lived in (sure, the neighbors can be noisy, but its student housing so you shouldn't expect it to be silent all the time). Oh and the gym is amazing, they clean it pretty regularly and everyone is respectful of the attached study areas. I would 1000% recommend this place to anyone thinking of living here.

I am writing this review under an alternate account I made strictly for this review so Palomar doesn’t come after me. I shouldn’t even have to do this but after seeing how many problems they give their residents, it is a concern. DO NOT LEASE AT ACADEMY PALOMAR. The amenities aren’t as great as they make them to be, everything in the apartment breaks, they look nice but are always having issues, and they will fine you for EVERYTHING they can when you move out. Not even close to being worth $1000/month, let alone the fact they’re charging more than $1400+

I am currently living at the Academy Palomar and i really enjoy it. The apartment is very nice and has been taken care of well. The staff is nice and attentive for the most part, sometimes there a bit slow to follow up with maintenance orders, but it does get done eventually.

The Academy Palomar is beautiful! It is in a great neighborhood whilst staying close to campus. The amenities, such as the main house and having our own washer and dryer, are hard to beat. I recommend!
