The Pointe at WYO, laramie-wy

I lived at the pointe for the '22-'23 school year. My roommates and I were charged seemingly ambiguous amounts for utility fees and the internet was so bad in my apartment that you can't stream videos without buffering constantly. Management is hard to deal with. Sometimes the power would randomly go out in my room so I put in a maintenance request only to be told that there was nothing they could do about it. The problem persisted until I moved out. My window was extremely hard to open when I moved in so I put in a maintenance request for that too. When they came they said it wasn't broken and did nothing about it. All of this is bearable for a college apartment complex but the thing that motivated me to leave this bad review is when I moved out. First of all, you have to hire someone to professionally clean the carpet which will be about $400 or so for the whole apartment. Before I moved out, I spent a lot of time cleaning my bedroom and took photos so that if I was charged for cleaning I would have evidence that my room was clean. I received charges to my account, some were fair, but there was also a $225 charge for cleaning my bedroom. I emailed back and forth with them first trying to get them to remove the charges and then afterwards trying to get them reduced and they would not budge. So, I spent almost $325 on cleaning just to move out of this apartment complex on top of spending my time cleaning my room (Photos of my cleaning attached, you can tell me if you think I should have been charged $225 to clean my room). It was also never peaceful because there were several partiers in my building and the building closest to me, but that could be a building by building problem. Other people have noted this as well, but they did a campaign this year that if you left a good review for the complex that you would be entered to win a PS5 or something so remember that when looking at good reviews from at least August of '22 to May of '23. Save yourself a headache and don't live here. I had to pay my fees so my credit didn't get destroyed, you can avoid the fees all together by avoiding this predatory complex that takes advantage of college students and cuts as many corners as possible. On the other hand, if you like to party and don't care about living in a terrible place, go for it.

If you’re thinking of living here, DON’T. This place is a joke masked as student housing. The apartments are filthy when you move in—stains on carpets, broken furniture, mystery smells, and appliances that barely work. Maintenance either ignores you or shows up weeks later just to say they “can’t fix it.” The staff changes every five minutes and none of them know what they’re doing. They lose your paperwork, give you wrong information, and are rude on top of it. The management only cares about money—not residents. The walls are paper-thin, so you’ll hear people screaming, partying, or having sex all night. Trash piles up in the hallways and outside the dumpsters. The hot tub and gym are always “out of order,” but they’ll brag about amenities when signing you. They nickel-and-dime you with random charges when you move out, even if you leave the place cleaner than you got it. Some people say they got charged for repairs on things that were already broken when they moved in. Packages go missing, the Wi-Fi barely works, and the shuttle is unreliable. And good luck getting your deposit back—you’ll need Jesus, a lawyer, and a miracle. Overall? Save yourself the headache and live literally anywhere else.

This was the best first apartment I could have asked for. Rent was affordable, large kitchen, your own bathroom, and lots of amenities. You don’t have a lot of control over your roommate, but I got very lucky and became best friends with 2 roommates I met here. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, especially if Erin is working. She’s the best!!

For those who are nervous of living with strangers: The likelihood of moving in with someone who abuses their animals and threatens to kill you are low.. but not zero. I unfortunately got roomed with that exact person and the management here made this awful and scary situation even more of a nightmare. They did not take me or our other roommates fears seriously despite having video proof of her threats and pictures of the dents in the wall from her throwing chairs. They refused to pick up calls from me or return calls about safety concerns. When we asked to break the lease and pay a fee to get away from her they wouldn’t allow us. When we asked if there was another apartment we could go to they said none was available. When our abuser decided to go back to her family the pointe informed us that she would not return and they would contact us when someone would come get her things…We walked in to her in our apartment with no call text or email from management. After emailing them to see why we hadn’t been informed and why she was back it took an entire week and more prompting to get a response. Surprisingly, though they had no apartments for us to feel safer, they were able to find our abuser a new apartment after months of this nightmare. So she knew exactly where we lived and could come back whenever she wanted. Which she did. Finding me while I was packing my car at night and could not get away. I called the point multiple times just to ask that they have her stay away from me and they refused to answer my calls. I called from a friends phone so someone would actually pick up and was able to tell them. I don’t know if they ever told her. They sure didn’t call or email me back like they had said they would. Lastly and probably what I was most upset about: they tried to get the SAFE project taken away from my roommate and I. The safe project was attempting to get in contact with them to negotiate a lease break or a move and they dodged their calls too but eventually picked up to inform them they should not be helping us but should be helping the roommate who traumatized us both so badly within just 3 weeks of living here. So if you’re lucky and don’t get a horrible roommate you may have a nice time here but if you do happen to get yourself into a situation where you are afraid to be home, afraid to walk outside, barricading your door just to sleep at night, just know, the management here will do everything in their power to NOT help you. They do not care about anything but your money. They will not help you. If I could give negative stars I would. I’ve never had such a horrible experience living somewhere. If you can find anywhere else, go with that. This place is not worth the nightmare you could potentially get yourself into.

(Writing from the boyfriend's account) HEED MY WARNING: This is a terrible place to live. The maintenance guy never does his job, no matter how many work orders we have put in (ESPECIALLY with the washer and/or dryer). When I had concerns about my apartment, the manager and assistant manager laughed at me and were extremely rude about it. The shuttle driver was the only one who ever did his job and was kind to us (so, of course, they sacked him). I will be emailing corporate about my complaints, especially about the manager, seeing as they obviously couldn't care less about my issues. What a disgusting place with incompetent management. Currently looking for a new place to live. If I could give zero stars, I would.
