They try to take advantage of young/inexperienced renters. I told them I needed a safe place near campus as a single woman who was unfamiliar with the area and moving from out of state. It’s near campus, but it also sees a lot of foot traffic from Huntington’s homeless population (my apartment was within walking distance of the city mission and I’d often see people camping across the street from my window). This wouldn’t be a problem but they refused to install blinds unless I paid for them, and I had multiple attempts of strangers trying to enter the apartment. Following one of these, I put in a maintenance request to have my window lock fixed (already broken when I moved in), which took them about a week to fulfill. I was told “woman to woman” to stick a broom in the window in the meantime, since they don’t fulfill emergency maintenance requests unless there’s damage from water/fire. WOMAN TO WOMAN PLEASE FIX MY WINDOW!! In another exciting incident I had my key stolen that I had left in the mailbox for my cat-sitter. I was distressed that my home was broken into while I was traveling, but Cyndy admonished me for leaving the key in the mailbox (admittedly a mistake). Instead of changing the locks they left me a spare key…. In the mailbox. Which is also where it was left for me when I moved in lol. Again, no emergency maintenance number to call for these incidents, so I had to bombard her phone with calls/texts until I got a response. They eventually offered to change the locks but I only after I got my mother involved who was the guarantor on my lease. I don’t feel that they took my concerns seriously. Many appliances needed repairs at the time of me moving in, the carpets were disgusting, and they didn’t have a microwave like the pictures displayed. Most of my packages got stolen as well, and the leasing office is never open for their full posted hours. Overall I had a lot of communication issues with Cyndy- and I felt mislead. I’m waiting to receive my security deposit still, but I worry she’ll withhold it if I post this review. They get one extra star for the lovely stray cat population that kept me company during my stay, the price, and the proximity to campus.

Terrible management. I lived in a "new" apartment. Promised garage parking space never happened. Building was delayed and I moved in a month later than expected but was still charged for rent while construction was still taking place. Maintenance actually pounded on my door on two separate occasions to collect the "amount I owed." Literally a guy with a clipboard, no introduction or explanation just a demanded money like he was in the mafia. The "new" apartment was cut corner construction. The hot and cold water lines were reversed so if you flushed the toilet steam would rise from it. I was missing a piece of flooring for several weeks while it was "on order." Mr. Porter purchased a refrigerator with an ice maker for the unit but neglected to have anyone run a waterline behind it. The window A/C and heating unit was not sealed into the exterior wall and the hole was cut incorrectly. I could literally lay on my couch and see straight through to the outside. When I moved out I paid $250 for a professional cleaner to make the unit immaculate. However, I still didn't receive my full deposit back due to "cleaning issues." The maintenance crew often entered my apartment without notice. They also stole a video game system from my apartment over Thanksgiving break while I was out of town visiting family. ****4 years later**** Management is trying to claim this is a fake review. Attached is a picture of the entrance to the below ground parking garage underneath both 1907 & 1911 6th Ave. Originally promised for use by the tenants but like everything else Big Green Properties creates it was shotty craftsmanship. The incline is too steep for small cars or anyone without a 4X4 to use. They also frequently used it for maintenance storage and construction equipment. This left two private parking spaces for 4 units. Yes, you do have garage parking. What you don't seem to have is the decency not to be a slumlord.

I think Cydny was a good landlord. She handled all of my problems and was very helpful when it came to being my first apartment. She always answered me and my problems were fixed. Some of the Maintenance were not as good but if there was a problem she handled it & made up for it. I took care of the apartment and didn’t have any damages and received all of my deposit back. I would recommend, it is pricey but overall a good place compared to a lot & is spacey too. If you have a problem just be respectful and they will do the same. (:

I haven't lived here for over a year, but I wanted to share my experience. Cyndy was by far the best landlord I ever had in Huntington. The apartment was impeccably clean when I moved in, response was extremely fast if I had any issues, and Big Green could not have been more professional. Highly recommend renting through them!

I lived here for 2 years and I called maintenance after my toilet exploded/water issues and nobody would respond within 48 hours. I lived by myself working 3 jobs to pay for an overpriced, disgusting, “studio” apartment. (It was 2br 1bath....) There are better quality, cheaper apartments in bigger cities where it costs more to live! The management is is very unreliable and unresponsive. I contracted roaches living in this hog trough. It doesn’t help that someone was killed 5 blocks away from my apartment every other night.
