The Railyard Cambridge, cambridge

I was accommodated at Railyard for a year and it is such a lovely and welcoming place with a fantastic atmosphere. Lou and John were amazing, so supportive and helpful throughout the visit, making everyone feel comfortable and looked after. The place itself was beautiful, accommodating, and Great service and an all-round wonderful experience — highly recommend!

The location is convenient, with many shops and transport links nearby. However, from a safety perspective it is not ideal because several incidents have happened near the station. My biggest issue during the two years I lived here is that I never felt supported by the accommodation team. Whenever I needed help, I felt ignored or left to deal with problems on my own. Some staff members were polite, but the woman who works at reception most of the time was consistently rude and unhelpful. She often spoke in an unfriendly tone and tried to end conversations quickly, which made resolving issues stressful. Maintenance entered my room without notice even though I asked to be present. The rooms also become very warm in summer because the windows only open slightly and there is no proper ventilation. Noise from outside at night is also common. Both years I had missing items in my room. In the first year, the bin from my inventory was never replaced. In the second year, I waited a month for a chair. My messages were ignored, and only when another staff member became involved was the issue resolved. He even told me that my room had never been added to the list of missing furniture. After moving out, I encountered a problem that staff had never warned me about. When I asked for guidance, I was told to deal with it myself, and later I was told that I should have known about it, which I found very unprofessional. Overall, even though the location is convenient, the lack of support, poor communication and stressful interactions make it difficult for me to recommend this accommodation. I am writing this review from a different email address because I prefer to remain anonymous.

I stayed at the railyard for all the three years of my uni experience and i cannot thank the team enough for all they did. any question was answered and nothing was too big for them. the rooms are spacious, modern and clean. i lived in a shared flat and a studio both of which really felt like home for me. maintenance is sorted often within the first few hours and always to a good standard. perfect location and a very safe place to live. will really miss my second home now i’ve graduated

Railyard is honestly a great place to stay. The people here are friendly and easy to get along with, the location’s super convenient, and the overall quality of the accommodation is solid. The vibe is chill and welcoming — it actually feels like a place you want to come back to at the end of the day.

Student Accommodation. The Rail Yard also serves as the reception for the Brunel building. The reception is friendly and secure, being staffed 24hrs/day. All the students I have helped from here have been extremely happy with their stay and said it added to their journey.
