I have been living at UniLodge South Bank for approximately 1.5 years, and this review reflects my experience over that time. Overall, the rest of the facility is generally fine and serves its purpose. The gym, common areas, study rooms, resident events, and staff are great and are positive aspects of the building. That said, I’m disappointed with how UniLodge South Bank has handled several ongoing issues. Following multiple break-ins to the bicycle storage area, my scooter was stolen, and I had to track it down myself with police assistance. On 9 September, UniLodge emailed to confirm the issue had been identified, stating: “We have noticed it and already work on it to get it fixed and replaced with solid materials.” However, after multiple follow-ups between September and December, I was later advised on 6 December that the door would not be replaced, with UniLodge stating: “Due to the upgraded security system in the area and the repair of the crack in the door we will not be replacing the door as of now.” As of today, the door appears unchanged and in the same condition as it was at the time of the break-in, and no visible repair to the crack is evident (please see images above showing the current condition of the door). Given the previous theft and police involvement, this inconsistency in communication and lack of visible improvement has left us without confidence in the security of the bike storage facilities. As a result, we have had to keep bikes and scooters inside our apartment. Based on this experience, I would recommend that current and future UniLodge residents keep their means of transport inside their apartments rather than relying on the bike storage area. In addition to the above, there are two ongoing issues worth noting: • Internet stability – The internet is highly inconsistent. At times speeds are around 100 Mbps, but at other times drop below 1 Mbps, with occasional disconnections. This has been a known issue since UniLodge’s early days based on past reviews. UniLodge has advised multiple times that the provider has attended to “upgrade” the system, however there has been no noticeable long-term improvement. • Air conditioning – The air conditioning in apartments is locked to a minimum of 22 °C. During Brisbane’s summer months, the room temperature often sits around 24–25 °C and never reaches the set temperature, making rooms uncomfortably warm. By comparison, the air conditioning in the lobby and ground floor areas is noticeably cooler. We have had to purchase fans to help cool the room during hotter days. Additionally, after using multiple study rooms during non-winter months, many become unusable as they are uncomfortably hot. Rooms only reach 22 °C or lower during winter, which is brief in Brisbane. Overall, if you are considering choosing UniLodge South Bank, it’s worth taking the above points into account when making your decision.

I read many of the reviews, and I find something very interesting 😂😂and trigger my memory💣. -First of all, avoid a specific multi-share room located on first floor. If you go through all the comments, you can see this problematic room appears several times on different reviewers’. Luckily this is the room I had been designated to, and as what other reviewers who have stayed there: noise from train station and pedestrians in smoking area, and the smell of smoke are the features of that unit. -Bills: you may want to have a better understanding of how their “room changing fee “ and “bond cleaning fee “ are calculated. Besides, it’s helpful to ask a staff to email you a bill statement-sometimes they will get confused of how the bill is composited. Understand that that if you want to leave this place, the cost will be 4 weeks of rent on top of the cleaning fee. -Staff attitudes: I can see a mixed comment about how everyone’s experience on front desk employees. Personally, I try to be as polite as I can in the first place. However, they have no intention to solve most of the issues and only ask you back. My personal experience is that the maintenance staff is polite but some front desk staffs and some managers are not. I can see the management team keep replying on how they are dedicated and welcoming. Maybe they take preference on different guests. -Intruders and Keycard: staff may accidentally enter into your bedroom at the middle of night-sounds unbelievable right? This is what I experienced. And $20 each time if you forget your keycard after hour. And they will accidentally cut your keycard out of whatever reasons😂 -Cockroaches: many people mention about them and yes, I see these lovely animals too! In addition, the smell on each floors garbage room is horrible 😅. -I will see whether to share some good experiences or share some tips on how to survive in this building after I review the replies from usb team. If you read here and have similar experience, please feel free to like this comment. Have a good day!

Location: right beside bus and train station, may caused some noises but not very bad due to great sound cancelled glass and walls. Close to 7 eleven, woolworth metro, grey street and universities. Sometimes could hear city's helicopters loudly from higher floors. Price: more affordable than other popular student accomodation companies. Common Areas: events are held organizely, AND FREE WITH MOSTLY FOOD ! about minimum 1 activity per week and even more within national holidays. Each floor has their own study area, refuse room and bright hallway design. - Especially colorful throughout the building, which suitable for boosting good mood. - 2 gyms, both are not too big but great for individuals and group of 4-5 training. Also have mirror and space for dance nerd if needed! - laundry: 1 drawback is the only card machine that is not flexible if one looses their cards or in await. - Kitchen and library: have 3 common kitchens in total which is very handy for mini family and friend meetings. The BBQ rooftop has free herbs garden everyday. Thus, library is located on the highest floor with free books to borrow within a week - have music room for band practice and a piano (might almost out of tune because it's pretry old) Room: -very well design for individual's space, with a bed beside the windows make a small room even bigger for yoga and dancing time. Already have matress cover, pin board wall and comfortable study chair. Large space for storage and clothing . - however this is only from a 6 shared room. Not sure about others twin bunk, twin studios and studio. - bathroom and toilet is also well designed with bright wall and dark floor ( looks less dirty), personally find temperature is abit hard to adjust for warm water. Sink is abit small so water might spit out while washing face. -kitchen: sentive alarms and steong microwave so beware of using this machine over 2 mins to warm food!!! - great comfy shared sofas (library, commom room and shared room) -electricity: great and automatic, aircon is great too but should be used with responsibilities for environmental purpose . - super helpful, quick service and friendly staffs, have cleaning service and rental vaccums. Resident: proportionally with 70% Asian and very friendly, supportive community as a whole. Has its own mini grocery store with dominantly Asian snacks besides daily accessories.
