The aircon in my room been stuck in heat mode for the last 2 weeks and a repair crew been here twice telling me both time its should be fixed but it is still broken. When I first sign a contract I was told if I lock myself out of my room I get 2 free keycard entrance after that I have to pay 20aud each time I forget, When my Contract was Renewed those "free entrance" wasn't renewed and nowhere In the contract was stated that My previous contract mistake would carry over. When I confront the manager about the issue I was told " We never had a obligation to give you anything, it was more like a charity" and further argument was meet with attitude and a " you can either just pay the 20aud or call a locksmith at 300aud" with a shrug and dismissal. Amazing 509 dollar per week to live in a broken building, the staff are mostly helpful, the managerial people are as useful as the gym equipment old and broken.

I was so surprised when I first arrived at Scape. The place looks like a kids' club, with colorful and multi-purpose rooms like a mini cinema, a shared kitchen, study areas, gathering spaces, and plenty of community areas for everyone. And the fun part is there's a slide that you must try when you're at Scape. It's such a fun place for international students. The rooms, although not large, are very comfortable.

Pros: 1. Management and Reception are good and courteous. 2. The place is new so the furniture and everything is new and clean. 3. The lobby and outside places are kept clean 4. Never really had a problem with utilities. 5. Stayed here for a one and half year without any big problems. Cons: 1. Central AC system and no proper windows in the room. Hence, it becomes difficult cooking India cuisine which demands proper ventilation. 2. Through no fault of the property itself, there are sometimes fire alarms and evacuation announcements. They are false alarms. Not really a con but thought best to mention this. 3. Laundry is expensive and there is a pricing surge for certain hours of the day. All in all a very good place to stay when first coming to Australia. However, I would look elsewhere for a longer term stay.

Overall experience – Scape South Bank looks good online, but the reality is completely different. For the extremely high rent, the standard of living is shockingly low. Problems are constant, staff are slow to help, and when issues affect your health or finances, there is no accountability. Water – Ongoing water issues throughout my stay. Systems shut down far too often, leaving residents without toilets, showers or drinking water, sometimes for long periods. Notifications were inconsistent and rarely given with enough notice. Mould (serious health concern) – I had significant mould in my room, which was treated with alarming disregard. I reported this multiple times, yet weeks passed before anything was done. During this time, I became physically unwell while living in a room with visible mould. This is a health risk, not a minor issue. No alternative room, no compensation, and no accountability were offered?!? Trash rooms – Bin rooms were very often not functioning, causing rubbish to pile up. Instead of fixing the issue, residents were met with warnings and threats of fines. Laundry – Laundry is expensive, there are too few machines for the number of residents, and they were frequently out of order. Elevators – One elevator was often out of service for long periods, causing delays and overcrowding. Equipment pack & move-in condition – I purchased an equipment pack on arrival, and several items were broken or unusable. The room itself was dirty when I moved in. Despite raising this immediately, nothing was offered in return. And the kitchen in the common erea didn’t have any equipment, so you had to use your own from your own room. Staff & room access – I frequently received emails about issues that were supposedly going to be fixed in my room, including notices that staff would enter. This happened repeatedly and added unnecessary stress. Move-out & bond – Moving out was a nightmare. Getting my bond back took months and involved excessive paperwork, repeated forms, and endless back-and-forth discussions. The process felt unnecessarily complicated and exhausting, to the point where it seems designed to make students give up so the company can keep the money. Final thoughts – This accommodation prioritises appearance over basic standards of health, safety, and fairness. For the price, the experience was unacceptable. I would strongly advise students, especially exchange students, to look elsewhere. All in all really bad, not worth the money, and especially when they don’t take any responsibility, makes it unserious One positive note: Thank you to the night security guard with long hair – you were genuinely kind and helpful, and honestly the best part of the entire stay.

There are some structural issues with the building that the building management has to fix rather than blame it on the residents or send passive aggressive emails. For example - mould build up is due to lack of ventilation and the inability to open any windows or cook anything ever. How about we address the water shut downs every two business days and the lack of water supply. The girls at the reception are the most helpful kind people though.
