Move here!!! Amazing amenities, amazing maintenance and amazing leasing office. Tay was really helpful before, during and after the process. You won’t regret it! I haven’t felt home in a long time and this is really it! Thank you Tay!! You’re the best!

Pricewise is a bit high for the area, but overall, solid place to stay. I was there for 2 years, and things were good til towards the end of our 2nd year there when my husband’s car got broken into in the parking lot. It was early morning, so probably nobody saw it, and Norfolk PD didn’t do anything either other than tell us to file a report. Laundry is expensive too, and only takes either quarters or their app. Also, the building we were in, no matter what we did, the washer wouldn’t use cold water, despite maintenance requests. We tried turning it back on, and making sure to run everything on cold, however, everything came out STEAMING out of the washer no matter what we did! As a result, some of our clothes shrank! We wound up going to the building next to us since their washer/dryer was working normally. The layout for our apartment was quite weird too, where we had to go through basically the entire apartment just to get to the bathroom which was a bit inconvenient at times. The bathroom was also small, and you can definitely tell they used cheap vinyl flooring and just slapped it on over itty bitty floor tiles- you could literally see the outline of the tiles if you looked closely. This complex is near the train tracks, so you’ll hear them mostly later in the night. Pool and fitness center were always clean every time we were there, and I liked the fact that they worked with a key fob for security. I would recommend getting a doorbell cam for outside your apartment bc there are package thieves that’ll run through every now and then. We were charged a $50 fee for not returning one of the parking stickers upon move out- Yes they expect you to bring in the sticker even though it falls apart when you scrape it off. We couldn’t remove the 2nd sticker because my husband’s car was somewhere on the dealership’s lot, and they wouldn’t respond to us- this was shortly after my husband’s car was broken into. We informed the leasing office of this, and told we didn’t need to worry about that one. Surprise, surprise, that meant nothing! The maintenance team was awesome, minus the washer issue in our building, and responded quickly to maintenance requests. The first management team (Bill and Dakota) were solid, but the second team was meh. We moved out because the rent went up to almost $1600 for a 1bed for a year long lease.

I've had a fantastic experience living at North Shore Gardens. The apartment itself is spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with lots of natural light and a layout that just works. The neighborhood is quiet, and the location is incredibly convenient?close to the Navy base, shopping centers, and a short drive from downtown Norfolk. What really sets this place apart, though, is the staff. The leasing office team is friendly, responsive, and genuinely cares about the residents. Maintenance is fast and reliable?every request I've made has been handled quickly and professionally. The community amenities are a huge bonus, too. The pool, fitness center, and outdoor areas are always clean and inviting. I also appreciate that it's pet-friendly, which made moving in with my cat stress-free. If you're looking for a place that feels safe, welcoming, and well-run, I'd definitely recommend North Shore Gardens!

They changed the water bill, so instead of paying what you use you pay for how many people live there. Considering the proximity to the military base, this is definitely preying on military members who go on underways and deployments but have to pay for the water they don't use anyways. Management changes a lot. Last manager quit I'm assuming, she always seemed really annoyed and exhausted. Also the floorboards are horrendous. First apartment I lived where I could hear the neighbors next door walking and slamming cupboards. You can also hear people below or above you, so even though a top unit is better it's not great. Honestly, I hated living here. The only benefit was the proximity to base and it was relatively cheap. Also, I had a neighbor who were a military couple who abused their dog, and management didn't care until another neighbor had to call animal control because they locked their dog on the balcony in the middle of summer. I reported the couple's clear lack of care and constantly leaving the dog inside for over 12 hours daily, and they told me to stop reporting it. Y'all need to get your morals straightened out. Oh, forgot to mention most of these 5 star reviews are because they host a raffle every month. And to enter you have to give 5 stars. Read the lowest reviews, they're the most honest.
