Update: The Drake has still done NOTHING to resolve these issues. I know people are already starting to look for possible apartment complexes for next year already, and it’s only fair that I share this experience so it’s very clear that you shouldn’t sign a lease here. By the way, it’s completely possible that you’ll lose your security deposit due to complete negligence from the owners. I’ll elaborate on this at the end. After speaking to multiple other former residents, I’ve heard several have issues with receiving back their security deposit too. The apartments are incredibly old and they break down constantly. I never used the dishwasher even once yet it would randomly leak bucketloads of water onto the kitchen floor when you used the sink, swamping the entire kitchen like a lake and making it completely unusable. This happened multiple times, and even though I sent in a maintenance request and the dishwasher would get “repaired”, this issue would occur again and again. Similar appliance issues continued elsewhere. The toilet flush constantly broke down, so don’t count on flushing your toilet. Do not count on using the printers in the complex, they aren’t able to print anything 99% of the time because they’re broken. I think I was only once successfully able to print something here, and I couldn’t even end up using it as all the ink was smeared over the page. They advertise having two pools and a spa, but there’s really only one pool in bad shape (practically never cleaned) and no spa. I think it’s concerning that advertised amenities don’t even function or straight up don’t exist. The Drake has the budget to fix these issues yet does nothing about it. The biggest issue with the apartment was the bad toxic black mold infestation that is likely in every unit (the apartments don’t have proper ventilation so mold is inevitable). I developed multiple mysterious colds while living here and allergic skin reaction, and was very confused on what was causing it until I started investigating the toxic black mold. You can put in a maintenance request and the only thing they’ll do is come and wipe it off the walls, but it’ll grow back very fast. Wiping mold doesn’t get rid of it when it’s literally growing within the walls of the apartment and you’re breathing it in every day. The only way to get rid of it is to literally tear down / reconstruct the unit. It’s pretty hazardous to live around this level of mold, and it’ll keep growing throughout your lease. The carpet is so incredibly dirty (visibly and literally), I could never walk barefoot on it and even cleaning it did not improve its status. There were carpet bugs discovered living in the carpet early on, and had to get carpet replaced. The Drake owners completely gave me the wrong info about how to timely receive my security deposit back, and this led me to never receiving my deposit back. I never caused any damage to the apartment (beyond basically just living there) and paid everything I owed on time, and even got in contact with the owners who were quite rude and unhelpful about this. Sorry, but I don’t think it’s impractical for students with 0 leasing experience to expect that the leasing office will give them the right info about their security deposit and the terms of their lease. If you’re literally giving out the wrong info to first time lesees about their security deposit and how to receive it back in a timely fashion, the least you can do is acknowledge your mistake and now give back their portion of the security deposit (minus damages). Throughout this lease, management decided it was appropriate to renovate through loud power washing multiple hours a day with 0 notice beforehand, jerking you awake at 8 am. It’s clear now that management only cares about making the complex look good enough to lure in new residents and not about actually creating a livable environment for current residents. I’ll end with this, Cristina: repainting your doors another dull shade won’t save renters from the reality of your broken-down apartments and terrible management.

The best apartment complex I’ve stayed in. Office people are so so helpful and so so nice. I’ve had some things that needed extra help from them and they didn’t have to but they helped anyways. Maintenance is super fast and super helpful too. There is a small but decent gym. Free printing with your own paper and it is super convenient. They also feed poor college kids during finals week cuz students forget to eat and they serve good food too. I just wanna say I appreciate the 3 years I stayed over there and I couldn’t ask for more because everything was perfect.

Great managers. Very helpful and understand the students. They also provide food during finals and on certain days throughout the year. Great manager and staff.

The location is perfect, with groceries and the Unitrans bus close by. The maintenance is excellent. There is a public park within walking distance.
