About this property
A university timetable quickly fills up with lectures, coursework, society events, grocery shopping and the occasional coffee break between classes. Spending less time travelling leaves more room for everything else. That's exactly what Pier Quays Medway brings to the table.
Located on the waterfront in Gillingham, Pier Quays student accommodation keeps major university campuses, supermarkets, cafés and public transport within easy reach. Students also benefit from furnished en-suite rooms, private studios, study areas, social spaces and all-inclusive bills in one place. If you're looking for Pier Quays accommodation or researching Halls of Residence Pier Quays, this residence combines everyday convenience with a location that works well throughout the academic year.
Address: Blake Avenue, Medway, Kent ME7 1FL, United Kingdom
People often search for Pier Quays Gillingham and Pier Quays Medway, and both describe the same location. The residence stands on Blake Avenue in Gillingham, which forms part of the Medway towns in Kent.
The surrounding area makes day-to-day university life easier to organise. The University of Kent Medway Campus, the University of Greenwich Medway Campus and Canterbury Christ Church University's Medway Campus are all within walking distance. Local supermarkets, takeaway restaurants, cafés and Dockside shopping facilities also stay nearby, so picking up groceries or meeting friends rarely needs a separate journey.
Public transport remains equally convenient. Bus stops at Medway Park War Memorial connect different parts of Medway, while Gillingham Railway Station gives direct rail services towards London, Canterbury and neighbouring towns.
The room itself only solves part of the accommodation decision. Campus access, nearby shops, study space and everyday facilities usually become far more important once university begins. Here are a few reasons why Medway Pier Quays accommodation remains a popular choice.
Short Walk to Campus
Walking to lectures takes around ten minutes for students attending the Medway campuses. That extra time often comes in handy before morning classes or assignment deadlines.
Bills Stay Under One Weekly Payment
Electricity, gas, heating, water, high-speed Wi-Fi and contents insurance already form part of the rent, making monthly budgeting much easier.
Room Options That Match Different Budgets
Choose an en-suite room if you'd like a private bathroom with shared kitchen facilities, or book a studio when having your own kitchen matters more.
Useful Facilities Throughout the Week
Study rooms, shared kitchens, a common room, cinema area, courtyard, barbecue space and secure bike storage all become useful throughout the academic year instead of sitting empty.
Everyday Shopping Nearby
Tesco Express, Subway and Domino's Pizza sit within the development, while Asda Superstore and Dockside Shopping Outlet are only a short walk away.
Extra Support Around Campus
Round-the-clock security, CCTV, on-site maintenance and longer contract options mean you won't need to move out during winter or spring breaks. University of Kent residents can also receive a Kent Sport Premium Plus membership, while the free campus shuttle stops outside the building.
Every room at Pier Quays accommodation includes a private bathroom, study desk, storage space and a comfortable double bed. The main difference comes down to kitchen arrangements and room size.

Asda works well for the weekly grocery shop. Dockside brings together retail stores, restaurants and cafés when you have a free afternoon. Medway Park Sports Centre gives you another option for fitness outside the residence, while Great Lines Heritage Park and Gillingham Park offer open space when you want a break from your desk.
Campus, Gillingham Station, Asda, Dockside Outlet and Medway Park all sit within the same part of town. After the first few weeks, those places usually become part of your regular routine without much thought. Pier Quays Gillingham puts everyday essentials close to the residence, which is why Pier Quays student accommodation continues to attract students studying at the Medway campuses.

I had a terrible experience with Unite Students. For months, my studio and entire floor suffered from constant electrical failures — daily outages, no lighting, no reliable fridge/freezer, and no ability to cook, shower safely, heat the room, or study properly. The flat was unsafe and effectively uninhabitable, yet nothing was resolved for 2–3 months. Staff were consistently dismissive and unhelpful. I was repeatedly brushed off, told to stop calling maintenance, and given empty promises. When a spare room was finally offered, I was made to wait around 40 minutes at 10pm to collect the keys while reception prioritised a personal conversation over doing their job — completely unprofessional. I eventually had enough and decided to move out. Since leaving, Unite Students have ignored months of emails requesting a refund or compensation. For the price charged, the lack of care, accountability, and basic safety is shocking. I would not recommend Unite Students to any student.

I had a wonderful experience staying at Pier Quays by Unite Students. The ambience is warm and welcoming, making it feel like home. Safety and security are excellent, which gave me peace of mind throughout my stay. I really enjoyed the indoor games area, convenient laundry facilities, and the amazing movie theater room. It’s a perfect place for students to live comfortably and happily.

Ever since I started staying at Pier Quays in 2022 I have not had any issues with maintenance and repairs pr flatmates that the management has not intervened and got solved to ensure my stay is as smooth and as possible. Additionally, I have been involved in different co-curricular activities on site to encourage socializing with other students outside my flat. This has helped me make new friends and learn some skills I had not done before like making
